We have a long history opposing societal, including gender, norms. And have deep connections with the early lgbt movements. Many people on the spectrum identify as queer.
Its not a secret that Elon believes he is on the spectrum, and we know he has at least one queer child. We also know that people who are stuck in the closest often channel this through self hate and hate of others who express.

Basically many people who have the raw processing power or "IQ" to understand and analyse things can still lack certain "mental infrastructure" or education to understand things. So they seek principles or the most simplistic social theories that don't explain anything real. Musk certainly falls into that.

This is the Overton Window, the window of acceptable topics for public discourse, and it's unrelated to testosterone (I know, surprising /s).
A misaligned Overton Window (like a slow response to an impending disaster) is hard to counteract because the experts dealing with the topic may lose their credibility by trying to push against the window.
But I have heard the theory that the evolutionary reason for autism may be to counteract this effect. A small amount of genuine vocal concern could encourage others to speak out and break the tension surrounding the topic.
