  • Not bad on itself but rather peculiar.

Is there a reason others never make it to friend status?

This scenario is actually reasonably common for people with autism/adhd, we can be ourselves more easily around others with a similar condition, and these tend to be genetic.

  • Funhole @lemmy.sdf.org

Zwrt asked me to post this content on their behave during these scarce times.

  • They are most certainly an option and great if they work for you, but that’s beside the point, there are lots of reasons people may not like those. More to he point is that industry has been waking up about single use cup awareness and now loves to sell you a reusable bottle. Butt regardless of what capitalism is trying there is no single one solution for every possible human need. Selling beverages in public spaces must fill some niches though if it remains lucrative.

  • Neither does AIPAC

    From there website:

WE STAND with those who stand with Israel. The AIPAC PAC is a bipartisan, pro-Israel political action committee. It is the largest pro-Israel PAC in America and contributed more resources directly to candidates than any other PAC. 98% of AIPAC-backed candidates won their general election races in 2022.”

WE ENCOURAGE the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.

  • Can confirm. Everything on top of my desk has a specific spot and orientation but anything additional, like important papers placed onto it will disappear from the physical nature of reality and my memory in a very short yet unknown amount of time

I am certified both. Also this is why the term neurodiversity is so much better. Overlap is quite common.

  • Personally i don't derive any comfort from coffee i actually really dislike the taste and smell.

My point is that, between the large variety of personal needs and desires, life has in many ways become compartmented in controlled sections. For example a commute but also things like a travel, vacation, lunch-break, post workday, workweek/weekend.

Capitalism directly benefits from perceiving these sections because it simplifies and generalises the consumer patterns. When people are within one of these sections while having similar feelings it becomes an opportunity to sell these people the potential to fill one of the needs that come from these feelings.. comfort.

Take people who use public transport to get to work, a strict routine which may include waiting a specific amount of time at a spot every day.

There is also the thing with coffee specifically that if we are really honest and understand caffeine as a drug then it makes sense to have a little performance boost to start the work. As a non coffee drinker its why i crack open an energy drink every 7am.

  • Never understood this notion that its one party fucking the other.

It takes two to tango, If the relationship is consensual you are fucking eachother.

Or maybe its something weird and some sort of consensual voyeurism. People are entitled to their kinks.

  • Making things at home will almost always be cheaper but ignores the rituals embedded into capitalism.

That cup of coffee you make at home before you leave does not possess the same psychological comfort as the one you have at the end of your commute just before walking into the office.

Our brain is wired to want specific inputs at specific times in relation to our environment and i sometimes feel like the entire work commute culture is designed to exploit it.

Going somewhere after work to blow of steam has the same vibe. Nothing wrong with that on permis but the opportunity to get you to spend is well understood in business.

  • You’re not doing it on purpose but your comment does highlight the ease people dismiss the social experience of hidden disability.

    • Oh your that (weird) person always wearing gloves.
    • Why are you so sensitive about your gloves?, just take em off.
    • Someone tried to rip off her gloves the other day and they are in the hospital now.

Comments in this style are more common for teens but the sense of not belonging even if for something at first glance mundane lasts well into adulthood.

  • As a parent its funny to me and required zero explanation.

Many comics of this series mirror stuff from my own life in an exaggerated way but i know they would have fallen flat a decade ago.

  • Different Dialects appear to emerge from having rather isolated parts of a culture.

With the very recent invention of the world wide web there is a good chance we eventually (and sadly) evolve out of it into a singular mixed human culture and language.

Even then it could happen during a space colonization age that sustainable colonies somehow get cut off. Outer worlds comes to mind.

How the dialect would evolve is determined of what the people spoke first. Their children will learn the same language but with less examples of “correct pronouncing” combined with teenage thrive to do things different (without external influence) things slowly start to sound different.

Star trek’s voyager would not have enough time to develop anything different however they might have encountered unique enough situations that call for new terminology. Things like new tools or medical innovations. But also the unused potential for more aliens in the crew. Language is constantly evolving no matter when or where.

  • I lack credible sources but I assume in a similar case they just let you in and observe every move you make to make sure you don't overreach the scope of your visit.

Now if you are known public speaker on democracy and are scheduled to speak at universities you may have more trouble but i imagine in this case you either never go there to begin with or at least carry a dummy phone for the time of your travel.
