Yes, incels and just angry, bitter people everywhere! For a good time, go to a relationship sub and ask for basic relationship advice for an easily solved problem, like how to communicate to your boyfriend that you don't want to have sex, and watch your post go down in flames.
No worries, I completely understand. I hope everything goes well!
Post it here and I'll chip in. Take care of your fur baby!
Edit: or DM me the link, I don't want you to dox yourself.
Hey, the Boy Scouts are getting better, no need to kill them!
Where is the next Smedley Butler when we need him? The guy was a true hero.
Marketing is truly the worst. A friend of mine studied psychology and his classes were inundated by industry trying to convince them to go into marketing.
You can't interface fairly and honestly with people. No, you have to use how their brains work to trick them into buying your products!

That aspect is my concern. A 2020 Gallup study suggested that over half of United States residents lacked English proficiency. While I suppose a tool like this might encourage some to read who might not otherwise, I worry students will use it as a crutch, not pushing themselves to develop their vocabularies and comprehension skills.
Anecdotally, I work in a field that typically requires an advanced education. The proportion of my coworkers that consistently demonstrates basic reading comprehension issues likewise concerns me.
Edit: that this post was three down from this one gave me a good laugh: https://lemmy.world/post/17068182
I'm the same way. I take like a quarter hit and I'm alright. The whole puff? Gone for hours.
It's the classic conservative condition: I didn't see it was a problem until it happened to me. So let's start making it happen to them.
I think what they're getting at is not every person on the Internet lives in the United States.
It always surprises me that people forget this. Here's the last few decades of United States politics:
Dems get power, compromise with Republicans anyhow, and mostly toothless bills get passed. Republicans pull remaining teeth once back in power and then push their agenda forward hard. Dems throw up their hands and tell the public the only way to fix this is to vote them back into office. Rinse and repeat as the country ratchets further to the right.
I think what will DEFINITELY help is all the immature passive aggression, like this post, that manifests when anyone dares to suggest they might have an issue they need to fix.
/s, in case that wasn't clear
I just bought a copy at Thrift Books! I'll have it framed.
Wow, it's a real book.
I was coming to post the same. Those fucking clickers were so stupid and overpriced, all so my biochem professor could poll the class AND grade everyone on their results. Results to questions about material that was JUST taught in the same lesson. Good thing everyone benefits equally from lecture, right? Fuck that guy.
Feeling this so hard as I trundle into my forties. I can't get enough bitter gourd.
After first seeing the term trans femme, I was very sad trans homme wasn't in use.
That's pretty much what they did anyhow, just with way more steps.

Sorry friends, that's at-will employment, *and you still can't be terminated for any reasons that are protected by law, but we're not here to discuss that. Right-to-work laws mean one thing: that non-union employees cannot be required to contribute to the cost of union representation.
The Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 prohibits "closed shops", where union membership is a condition of employment; however, union represented positions can still be required to contribute to the cost of that representation. Right-to-work laws prohibit that requirement, allowing employees in union represented positions who choose not to join the union to also choose whether or not they contribute to the union's costs, i.e., if they pay dues or not.
I see this mistake frequently and thought folks might want to know the correct information so they don't unintentionally perpetuate it.
Edit: updated to include link to info about at-will employment.

Any suggestions?
