I am also as far left as someone can be before the horseshoe turns into authoritarianism again.
The left is armed. We just have the decades of experience necessary to know that you don't advertise your capabilities. Especially in an open forum like the fucking internet.

Literally everyone I know who is in favor of 2A is against this. They're "being real quiet" because you don't interact with them and have no line of communication with them outside of Twitter trolls

Of course the NRA has been quiet. They always do this, because they're not about to people. Do you remember when California passed stricter gun laws? Because black people were buying guns? That happened like 50 years ago. The NRA was silent then and they are silent now.

  Join a club or find some locals to tag along with. Go to a range and start shooting. I do suggest to start with a 22lr because of the cost of ammo these days, don't not practice with the larger calibers, but for $25 you can get 350+ rounds of 22lr vs like 40ish rounds of .223/556 or even less with 308.
  
  Point open end towards the thing you're shooting, press stock into armpit. Insert loaded magazine, pull back bolt, turn off safety, squeeze trigger. If automatic, squeeze trigger again, repeat. You can also find indoor ranges that will have classes usually. Most will have limits on calibers allowed though. Outdoor ranges usually have no limits (or do but aren't monitored).
