Twitter algorithms and data it had on voters played no small part on the outcome of the election. Now that it got them the power, they will use that power to secure the twitter and their algorithmic hold on the Americal society to win all the elections going forward. If EU tries to regulate those recommendation algorithms they will use all the leverage they can to prevent that.
I'd like to see the "twitter algorithms and data" that made 15 million former Biden voters stay at home. I get the role Twitter plays in neofascist propaganda, but Trump didn't win this election through mass mobilization of his own base (he himself actually had 3 million less voters than in 2020), he won because of mass demobilization among potential Democrat voters. Everybody was pissed at the Dems after 4 years of doing fuck all for their constituents and that made droves of people not bother going to the ballot box - mostly people who feel they have nothing to lose under Trump and couldn't be blackmailed into voting for a lesser evil, which is the actual reason turnout among white men was so shit for Kamala. It's really that simple. This isn't some strategic power move, in fact when your plan is more fascism it's incredibly stupid to immediately piss off the military like this. just a slight correction: it appears that the total vote count puts Trump at roughly the same place as in 2020. Trump gained 40k votes like Kamala lost 11 million instead of 15.
but the heart of what you said is true. twitter helped keep the trump base mobilized, but it's not like it turned people fascist. it was the dem voters who stayed home after kamala and the dems kept courting trump voters instead of their own base.
