It's crazy how often MLK is used as some great example of peaceful protest when the guy was murdered by the FBI.
Seems like the non violent approach isnt very effective if the state will just kill you anyway for being too loud.

- I mean, MLK was effective as one part of multiple movements. The black panthers existed at the same time and they played off each other.
- That's not unique to non-violence, though. Fred Hampton was also murdered by the FBI.

- I don't think it was coopted so much as the whole thing is the coopting to capture the energy and stop it from feeding the pro-Palestine movement and PSL or other leftist orgs.
  
  I've met several of the original organizers here in my city. They're libs but primed to be radicalized libs. The dems have swooped in. One of the drama items is most people are pro Palestine but several loud (also known feds) people have started arguments over "from the river to the sea" chants. There's some drama over trademark fuckery as well.
  So yeah it was always pretty lib but there seems to be a concerted effort to neuter it as a pipeline and I don't think it started that way.
- In some places. There are cities where it's been totally co-opted by the Dems via indivisible. In other cities, like mine, there is no 50501 without PSL. Others are still very contested territory.
