The people in the comments like "wow, looks like Belarus and Russia are sharing Ukraine, how history repeats itself" are morons. Imperialism very rarely involves actual annexation anymore, which is why most people don't recognize that the US is an empire despite having every feature of one other than direct annexation of foreign territories
