  • The amount of psyop going on right now is astounding. We have the US government sending millions in tax dollars to Ukraine, on top of what we already pay for the military. People are donating their Wendy's paychecks to crowdfund weapons and shit. It's not even humanitarian shit, just straight up "Let me buy rifles for you" from people who are definitely poor. Because the internet and they just want to help and be part of something. The MIC must be laughing their asses off right now.

The buttcoin people have to make this about them. I think there is some Langley fingerprints on that too. Seeing how money flows through these crypto networks into and out of the area. Meanwhile if you donate USD to the right leftist causes you can wind up on a list or worse. The exchange would be raided and shut down. But somehow US intelligence is looking the other way right now.

Reddit is showing it's full potential as a propaganda tool. You can't really see the lines between State Department shit and the average :so-true: There is zero skepticism about anything said. No "um actually" shit. Just pure acceptance. Any attempts to push back are instantly drowned out. Subs that have nothing to do with this shit are basically just freely posting news updates. You can't escape it. r/conspiracy, which for the past several years has criticized Russiagate and played down how bad they are is now saying Russia bad. Even that cesspool can't help but to fall in line.

I know this is mostly internet shit that I'm complaining about and there are actually people dying right now. I'm not trying to take away focus on that. In fact, the UAE are bombing people right now. Armenians are being targeted right now. Israel just did some crazy shit the other day if not continuing to do it It's all being drowned out by this shit. Because Ukraine is of interest to NATO and NATO is of interest to the US, everything must coalesce around it.

EDIT: also Western media begging Ukranians to make molotovs and throw them. They're literally just trying to get video/pictures for propaganda. They spent all of the Floyd Protest clutching pearls about fires. Even that Robert Fedvans fuck who did a whole podcast about how fire bombs are stupid is doing it.

    • I think this is the largest amount of disinformation and psyop I've seen on the internet in my lifetime. And that's largely a product of things like reddit and twitter not being around during e.g. the beginning of the Iraq War, but my god, the absolute tsunami of propaganda is astounding. Every social media website is unusable if you're discussing anything even vaguely related to politics, and even places that should be free of it have pro-Ukrainian, pro-Zelensky messages. If you even hint at the fact that NATO has not been given the almighty blessing of God himself to purge the infidels and create a human paradise on Earth then you're deemed a rabid pro-Putin anarchofascist marxist.

Above all else, it really puts the nail in the coffin of the idea that online arguments can achieve anything of real substance. Which isn't surprising necessarily, but I think there's a tendency to be like "Oh, my post saying that the United States is evil got upvotes on a mainstream subreddit! We're convincing the libs!", whereas in reality, any popular social media site is directly controlled by intelligence agencies that activate tens of thousands of bots to control the narrative, and there can never be victory there. We can convert a few people, sure, that's how many of us got here, but even for the ones we turn "anticapitalist", they immediately go off and watch weird streamers to form their ideology with zero information taken from literature or even foreign socialist/communist organizations or parties; it's just lib-brained American exceptionalism that completely corrupts any kind of laboratory messaging and turns it into reaction. In the last megathread, somebody was talking about how the anarchist subreddit was advocating for, rather than surrendering and preserving the lives and livelihoods of the working class of Ukraine and Russia, essentially scorched earth tactics for the Ukrainians against the Russians, rather than of the most fundamental, core concepts of anarchism which is to advocate for no wars between nations, only war between classes.

The most obvious thing to do instead is to go offline and volunteer for socialist causes in your free time or at least read theory if you're unable to do that, rather than doomscrolling and getting into arguments with libs, but I'm not sure what we do about the problem of the internet. I'm not claiming it particularly matters, but I can see no other way to end this situation than to somehow tear apart the big social media sites, and somehow massively discredit all western media at a minimum. But how can that be done? I don't know.

    • r/conspiracy, which for the past several years has criticized Russiagate and played down how bad they are is now saying Russia bad. Even that cesspool can’t help but to fall in line.

This is what's wild to me. The right who are generally rather favorable to Putin and like Russia for their pseudo-nazbol like nationalist brainworms and conservatism are falling in line with supporting Ukraine.

  • :eu-cool:

    EU just announced that:

    • They're moving to ban Russian media orgs like RT
    • They're going to apply the Russia sanctions to Belarus too (just after Belarus agreed to host talks)
    • All EU airspace is now closed to any type Russian flight, commercial, government, or military (I wonder why Russia didn't think talks in NATO countries were realistic?)
    • They're going to start financing and providing Ukraine with military equipment (the first time the EU has ever taken this step).

*Edit: The no-fly is stricter than I thought too. Will include any flight "deemed to be Russian owned or controlled" including private aircraft. That last bit is especially vague.

  • I'm astounded at how quickly Europeans unified around the US line. I mean I don't expect them be pro-Russia or anything like that, but all that talk about European policy that is slowly moving away from the US just vanished in a blink of an eye and they have all gone back to their official role as US lapdogs.

  • A bunch of NATO countries are now allowing "volunteers" (could mean anything from gullible idiots drunk on war propaganda to special forces wearing fake moustaches) to join a "foreign brigade" in the Ukraine war.

No way this could end badly. Nope. This is guaranteed not to blow up in anybody's face.

    :agony-shivering:

BRB, I'm going to listen to some old Tom Lehrer songs while there's still time.

  • "Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has said she supports individuals from the UK who might want to go to Ukraine to join an international force to fight.

She told the BBC it was up to people to make their own decisions, but argued it was a battle "for democracy".

She said Ukrainians were fighting for freedom, "not just for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe"."

    ugh

  • I hate this timeline. Everybody is getting more and more unhinged. Russia is waving it's nukes around and makes statements that seems increasingly emotional and hyperbolic. Meanwhile the western imperialists are working themselves into a hysterical war frenzy, screaming for Russian blood as they pour weapons into the conflict and turning the political landscape fully McCarthyist in less than a week.

I might sound like a bleeding heart liberal but I really miss some voice of calm reason talking the conflict down and calling for peaceful resolutions. The west must perish but I and everyone I know and love lives here so I would really appreciate it not to be in a literal sense.

  • Picturing an alternate timeline where the world came together in condemning the USA for it's wars of agression and genocide of the people in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Or how about sanctions and boycotting products made in Israel over their occupation and genocide of the Palestinian people. You don't see people cutting ties with Saudi Arabia over their war and humanitarian crisis in Yemen. I'm not excusing Russia, but the double standard is so blatant. Because this is happening to culturally "good" blonde haired blue eyed europeans, it's a tragedy. But when much, much worse, happens to culturally "evil" dark skinned and dark haired people, anglos let out a yawn and roll over.

  • Its horrific and unforgivable that Russia has surrounded Kiev and is preventing civilians from leaving, but also Ukraine is straight up banning people from leaving and executing "deserters" and thats just war, baby?

  • War in Ukraine? Fascism rising globally? Nuclear War? Pandemic? Who the hell is Lois C.K.? Man you really must have hit your head! It's not 2022 it's 1998. C'mon, we're going to a lan party and my buddy is going to show off his geocities page with animated Ren And Stimpy pictures!

  • Big :parenti: vibes with the nuke announcement from Putin. Apparently, people are taking it as proof that the invasion is ruined, rather than the reaction to NATO/EU crackdown on russian businesses, finances, and media

  • Baffled by the western twitter discourse in the past two days, across the political spectrum, about how badly Russia is losing and how cool and brave Zelensky is. This is so far from reality. But it's not just cope or whatever. There's just very little information generally about what is going on. Russian officials only share the numbers of destroyed military vehicles and infrastructure every day, and nothing else. Western sources also don't seem to be reporting at all on how many towns are taken without battle and on how many Ukrainian solders just refuse to fight and surrender. Russian military personnel is also strictly forbidden from using smartphones. So the only information out there about what is going on is coming from the ppl in Ukraine filming/reporting it on social networks (which means the closer something is to a big settlement, the more info and the other way around), and then it is left up for interpretation. Zelensky team have been saying many things too, ofc, a lot of them having proven to be dubious, especially the inflated number of casualties on the Russian side, backed up by nothing. But it's also understandable, because morale and all. So it's a choose your own adventure war when it comes to the twitter universe rn.

Take any "news", coming from any side, or any "impartial" observers with a giant sack of salt. Including what I wrote. Or don't take it at all if you feel emotionally burnt out. The main point of all of this is to make ppl feel an emotion one way or the other, not inform. Simply because there's so little information out there rn.

  • "Ukraine to pay $3,400 (Hr 100,000) per month to military personnel.

The significant pay raise will be implemented to show the soldiers "that the country is grateful to them," President Volodymyr Zelensky said."
