WHaTaBoUtIsM just means stop calling me on my bullshit
i think the thing is to try and explicitly move the framing from reddit debatebro "yeah well your team did it too" which is gonna be the kneejerk way libs are gonna read this criticism
to something more like "when a nation itself engages in the same activity as a country it criticises for that same activity, that is relevant to doubting the sincerity of their purported concerns, and compels us to look a bit deeper for alternate and more credible reasons behind their public condemnations. and its also a reason to step back and think about what factors are behind why one gets so much more criticism than the other"
What do you think about (lol pun not intended): "There is a blatant double-standard going on with how the West is reacting to this. And you know what? Whenever someone follows a double-standard, it only means that their actual standard is so bad it must remain hidden. In this case, it's clear that all these Western nations only care about wars when white people get bombed — racism, that's their standard. But of course they can't say that part out loud and have to hide it behind such grandiose statements like democracy or civilians or sovereignty, etc, which they simply do not care as we can see from Iran/Libya/Syria/Palestine—or even Yugoslavia, or even the Ukraine coup in 2014. Remember those?" (The thing about double-standard I copied off & translated from someone from Weibo based on what I can remember, but I can't find it anymore)
And when they ask BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR STANDARD, hopefully they are the kind people to whom you can introduce some notions of material analyses ...
