Needs aligned with latitude and longitude. The North-South(or East-West, idc that much) middle should be "Center", and the Coasts should get their own thing.
Points for "Midmid" when "Middle" and "Central" were right there though.
The real one is equally messed up:
"East North Central" is in the "Midwest"
...
For the longest time I assumed the Midwest was a purely descriptive term based on location and not one that was defined... Finding out Ohio was in the Midwest blew my mind.
It’s because the term came from a time when everything west of the Mississippi River was “the West”
I'm from the Midwest and so many people when I tell them or discuss being Midwestern have no idea that it's Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, etc. They treat me like I'm stupid. Well they're not wrong, but I didn't make that shit up.
Think of the time when the name came about (late 1700s or early 1800s), anything beyond the coastal states was "the west" and what they called the Midwest was (kind of) in the middle of it.
Ohio ain't even mid it's skibidi
cracks me us there is not southwest as in the desert southwest
Yep, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, all the same.
This is obviously poorly designed.
I'd say so too. If you're in Detroit or Chicago, you're in the East North Central, Midwest, lol.
I want to argue, but Kansas is definitely mid.
The middest of the midmid.
Honestly, I like this version better than the real "Midwest", which isn't western at all, and hasn't been for well over a century. Hell, there were forts on the west coast in 1792.
I mean yeah there were forts there but they wouldn't be American for another half century. So, I don't know that that is particularly relevant to this discussion.
Wiki wiki mid-midwest
Shouldnt it be SouthMid and NorthMid?
Seems like I live in the Neutral Evil part of the US. Yeah that tracks.
Glad I'm not the only one who saw an alignment chart. West Coast the best coast, but it's especially fun given Florida is Chaotic Evil.
Yep, I'm going to the MidEast for a business trip next month.
What? Doha?
No, New York, New York City...
I love that SoCal is the midwest now
i refuse to belive california is in the midwest
in alignment chart terms we'd call that True Mid
What is this? A southwest for ants?
I don't like this.
Giving Midmid.
This angers me
The projection is what annoys me the most. At least have it line up with latitude/longitude.
I like it better than the current convention
Midmid is basically the old Big 8 conference, which made a lot more sense than the bastardized hellscape we have now
Missing 49, 50, 51. Alaska, northwest, northwest. Hawaii, west, west. And Canada north, north
Alberta: NorthMidNorth
