anyone not putting smoked paprika needs to do self-crit
No order:
Smoked Paprika
Allspice
Sichuan Chili
Mint Leaf
Citric Acid Powder
There's finally an Asian grocery store in my town that has Sichuan chilli's and I'm hyped to finally work with some. Smoked paprika barely missed the list, mint would also make top 10
I love all of my spice cabinet equally, I genuinely would not be able to rank them. They are all delicious in their own way.
I think that's their prominence in terms of actual use in my family at least.

Old Bay
Berbere mix
Ras el hanout
Tajin ngl not into it
Zaatar i bought a big tub and its definitely stale now
Garam masala feel like it always needs something else in there to complement it, can't stand on its own

Favorites more than most used I imagine. Or maybe just what sounds good now
I want Thai food now
I feel like there should be honorable mentions for garlic, which is neither a spice nor an herb, and MSG which is just a chemical.
Those are my best cooking friends.
another honorable mention to the maillard reaction, browning/searing food does a ton of heavy lifting
I've been trying to find MSG, can't find it at any of the grocery stores near me. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, it should be with spices and salt right?
Also often findable in Asian markets. Big bag for cheaaappp
They are also good bois
