There's an education system for the ruling class and an education system for the working class.

As someone that got a scholarship to the "ruling class education system" in high school, it really sucks ass. The people there are just evil, the schools (especially the all boys or all girls schools with boarding) are rife with abuse, and most of my peers were spoilt little shits.
- I currently share a workplace with people who went to expensive private schools and they're like a different species. One of my coworkers told me she saw nothing wrong with blackface, since their school theater did it all the time when there were black characters because there weren't any black students to play the roles.
  Also some of them had like Guatemalan slaves who'd bring them lunch or drive them around. Also they had stuff like a bowling alley and a full sized movie theater.
  My high school barely had plumbing that worked.
- Shit happened to me as a kid too. Only got into the elite school because of my athletics. I was the only non-white kid for five years in a country that's 95% brown.

These people are so forgettable it almost doesn't occur to me that they were alive before their political campaigns. So far as I can tell, they crumble into dust the moment they cease being immediately relevant

And on the flipside all the colourful outfits from then just looked super unfitting/ didn't match. See the women with neon yellow tank or crop tops combined with denim shorts or a skirt and fishnet stockings.
I just searched 2000s fashion on Google and already got like 5 matching results to that lol.
But at least that was better than mens fashion back then, men's fashion was absolute trash in the 2000s
The sad part is that so many aging millennials, even some on hexbear, are always reminiscing about that shitty era.

00s culture seemed like a backlash to both the depressing minimalism of the late 90s and also 9/11 (I regard the 90s as two separate culture epochs, early and late 90s)
We go through periods of everyone being sad and then everyone being vibrant and happy
