This just in: Tankies vindicated on CIA backed Hungarian fascist uprising

No matter how often the tankies are right, libs will find excuses or just ignore it.

As vindicating as this is, I don't think this reveal will change anyone's mind. Anyone who had seriously tried to understand it has already come to the conclusion that tankies were right, even without explicit CIA involvement (and knew the CIA were involved anyway).
Anyone committed to the NATO worldview won't consider this a bad thing or will think the CIA justified in trying to free a sovereign nation from Soviet imperialism.
- One of the things I find very funny is that liberals in the USA will recognize that a lot of their current problems stem from not adequately prosecuting Reconstruction and allowing the former Confederates to regain positions of authority and pass racist laws. Justice deferred etc etc. But somehow the Soviets weren't behaving correctly when they tried to stamp out fascist backsliding on their doorstep a handful of years after the most devastating war in human history.
  
  I understand the liberal perspective. What gets me is when alleged "socialists" are anti Warsaw Pact. The world's capitalist powers just allied against the lone Socialist nation. The US immediately rehabilitated the Nazis while France and Britain still clung to the remnants of their empires. And yet the USSR was supposed to yield over the people the liberated from fascism over to the capitalist empires?
  
  This is one of the things that turned me into a socialist a long time ago. Even liberalism the British monarchy thought was too far and tried to retake their colony in the War of 1812. To me, it was obvious why during the French Revolution carried out so many executions. They saw what monarchies were willing to do and tried to avoid that. Better to kill a few chuds at home than have thousands (or millions) die when the chuds' friends come to help.
  The soviets and China were just following in the footsteps of previous revolutions. Anyone with the slightest understanding of history, especially the leaders of communist factions, knows what happens when you don't purge. It was even more obvious after the American Civil War what would happen if reactionaries weren't eliminated.
  What it comes down to is "White: okay. Black/brown/Slavic: not okay." It's freedom and liberty when rich, white slave owners overthrow their monarchy, but tyranny and authoritarianism when anyone else does the same thing.
- I'm sure they'll handwave this away like the rest of the evidence, but I'm thinking about four years ago when @gammison called everything in Aptheker's book "categorically untrue" with evidence like "the CIA only had one case officer in the country at the time!" I mean, how could they do anything with ONLY ONE smol bean officer of that particular type? no mention of other kinds of agents so they must not have existed right? how could one lil' CIA agent handle that much money or weapons, you silly tankie?

  another discrepancy is that they link to supposed "declassified CIA cables" but it's not, it's an article in the "National Security Archives" with its own conclusions, and maybe I'm clueless but I do not see any cable excerpts or a clear idea of any cables, everything seems to be sourced from a "CIA Clandestine History" and I do not trust a supposed "internal history" as much as I would declassified operational cables for real use in decision making.

  I don't know enough about the uprising to really weigh in, but what I did find quite funny was reading about Béla Kilály on wikipedia and seeing that he arrived in the US after the suppression of the revolution "speaking good English, having taught himself through an English-Hungarian dictionary while in prison". That's definitely the most likely explanation for those particular language skills.

And as usual, libs won't care.

The term "tankie" was originally used by dissident Marxist–Leninists to describe members of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) who followed the party line of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Specifically, it was used to distinguish party members who spoke out in defence of the Soviet use of tanks to suppress the Hungarian Revolution of 1956

- The majority of libs who yell "tankies" has no clue about the hungarian uprising - I've seen people who think the term "tankie" comes from Tiananmen Square. They will just keep saying the word that just means "leftist I don't like" nowadays.

So just to be clear before you get too excited, this paragraph itself doesn't prove anything about the actual uprising.
Only thing this paragraph proves is that a dissident Major General who was part of the uprising was sponsored by the CIA at some point which could have been years after the uprising.

  Lukacs was the quintessential Marxist communist of the XXth century, he was an active part of the Hungarian Communist Revolution and he was also a part of the 1956 uprising:
  In the spring of 1956, György Lukács delivered a lecture at the Petőfi Circle. On October 26 of the same year, he was appointed Minister of Culture in Imre Nagy’s second government. He took part in the work of the Temporary Organizing Committee of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party (MSZMP).
  Following the Soviet invasion on November 4, he sought refuge at the Yugoslav embassy, where he remained until November 18. Upon leaving, he was arrested along with other asylum seekers by Soviet authorities and deported to Snagov, Romania.
  In his memoirs, he criticized Imre Nagy for his "lack of a clear program," though he refused to renounce him or his own role in the government—despite not fully agreeing with all of its decisions. On April 11, 1957, he was allowed to return home and subsequently requested membership in the newly reformed MSZMP, but his application was rejected.
  In 1958, he was forced into retirement. Not only was he barred from holding a university position, but he was also prohibited from publishing for an extended period. The East Berlin-based Aufbau Verlag, which had previously published his works, also ceased doing so. Until 1965, he lived in internal exile and was only able to publish in Western Europe.
  The uprising was a clusterfuck of anarchists, liberals, leftcoms, and, yes, reactionaries committing pogroms, but the reactionaries didn't need nudging from the CIA to commit their crimes. Western intelligence agencies were certainly involved to some degree though, just don't overestimate it.
