  • They have zero values, not even pragmatism. It is just sophistry to save the status quo.

They are all for "lesser evil" if it's about electing a neoliberal ghoul, but when the lesser evil would be not arming Ukraine and trying diplomacy, then they will be all for absolute moralism, because of "western values"

  • The Median survey revealed that 86 percent of the Hungarian population supports the country's EU membership, and 91 percent supports NATO membership.

I guess a good chunk of these people would think Ukraine should be let into the EU because "The EU is a good thing and Ukrainians deserve good things"

IDEA Institute's nationally representative survey of 1,500 people, conducted in early April 2025, examined how members of the Hungarian adult population generally view the possibility of Ukraine's EU membership. The survey results show that more people agree with Ukraine's future EU membership, provided the still unknown conditions are met, than those who reject it. 45 percent of Hungarian adults agree that Ukraine should be a member of the European Union if it meets the accession conditions, and only 38 percent reject this. Furthermore, 17 percent of the population is uncertain about the issue, has mixed impressions, or is unable to take a position at all – the research concluded.

  • there have gotta be more ultra-pro-ukraine eurolibs

There are plenty. West vs. East is foundational in Hungarian political imagination, especially for liberals. Idealist essentialism is their thing. "West is inherently progressive and just", and "East is backwards and corrupt" etc.

They never arrived at the negation of the negation

  • I've only seen this one and the most recent short one about Iran

My impression is that he is a well-read high school history teacher who likes the game theory school of IR and he's not indoctrinated by western propaganda

Which means he's much better than your average talking heads you encounter in Western mainstream media

Not historical materialist it seems like, sadly there are not enough Marxist teachers of current geopolitics
