When the country is doing stupid shit like invading Iraq I'm opposed to the draft. When it's defending against an existential threat which is on native soil, I don't have as much sympathy for people avoiding the draft.
When its past bad thing you were totally against it, when its current bad thing your support it. Liberals like you truely oppose every war of their empire but the current one.
But are you basically saying if your home is attacked by another nation. One much larger and using draft to fill the ranks of attackers.
You are happy to allow your leader to fail to convince people to save your and your family/childrens lives.
Because at the end of it. That is why many folks support draft for a nation under attack.
I personally always think it is best as a last resort. Trained full time pros are genrally better at the job. But in an attack like this the amount of work needed to build and manage defences needs a huge labour force. Even modern tech warfare needs huge labour.
It is the idea that everyone needs the actions of these people to survive. That makes the vast majority express views like Ops original comment.

How can expect anyone to take you seriously with this stupid shit?
If the cause is worth fighting for, the people will come to do it. If it's not, they won't.
Draft is not convincing people, it's arresting them and forcing them to the frontlines at gunpoint if needs be.
It seems to me people have made up their minds and the leaders just said the answer is wrong. There are many reasons why one wouldn't want to fight. On the basis of one's spirituality, because the cause is not worth it (maybe the military leaders seem incompetent), because the draft and/or country are sunk in deep corruption and not applied equally to all adult able bodied citizens (like rich folk or women, who are free to do as they please) or because, simply put, it's not a home worth dying for (because you're going to come back to a home that works terribly because of deep seated corruption and embezzlement and will probably end up homeless with no assistance and a ton of physical and mental health problems).
If people don't want to give their lives for it, then they shouldn't be forced to just because their leaders really want to win. No country has the right to determine what their citizens would die for on behalf of them. Of course, then there are the consequences of living under the miserable boot of Putin's regime or his puppets.
I honestly don't know if i would or would not join. I know what i would do if it was my country, but i don't live in Ukraine and i don't know what it is like to live in Ukraine, but i can tell you that no country gets unconditional support just because i was born and lived in it or have friends and family there. Devotion is earned, not owed.
