Why Russia’s increased co-operation with China and Iran spooks Europe
  • One, they’re worried about how China and Iran could use Russian technology to beef up their military capabilities, and threaten their — or their allies’ — defence assets around the world.

    Well duh.

Two, there’s deep concern about what such steps say about the Kremlin’s frame of mind. Russia had in the past heavily guarded its military advances, especially from potential future rivals such as China. Trading its knowledge now is seen by some as sign of increased recklessness.

Recklessness? To increase the military capabilities of the enemies of the world's most reckless superpower?

  • US imposes sanctions on Maduro allies over ‘illegitimate’ election results
  • This normalises the idea that there was something crooked about the extremely well observed and very robust and modern election system. The point is to con gullible stupid people to soften them up for future violent actions by the US, aswell as to intimidate Venezuelans. It's far from nothing.

  • What were or are your thoughts on the US Pres. Debate?
  • I like to think that I have a decent grasp of the world, particularly as a Marxist. But sometimes I really struggle to get into the settler cultural mindset. I don't want to read Settlers at this point in time because I'm already depressed and angry enough. I just can't believe how quickly all of this became normal.

  • A Mao quote to fit in our current times of mass silence on the Palestinian genocide.

"Liberalism manifests itself in various ways. To let things slide for the sake of peace and friendship when a person has clearly gone wrong, and refrain from principled argument because he is an old acquaintance, a fellow townsman, a schoolmate, a close friend, a loved one, an old colleague or old subordinate. Or to touch on the matter lightly instead of going into it thoroughly, so as to keep on good terms. The result is that both the organization and the individual are harmed. This is one type of liberalism."

The French are trembling with the election of Senegal’s new president Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

He and his right-hand man Ousmane Sonko have an anti-colonial stance and want to pull out of the CFA Franc.

France was recently expelled from Niger, and now there is a new blow coming.

"Only China is an arguable peer of the United States, only China’s technological and industrial might can hope to match our own, and only China has the capacity to project power globally as well as regionally."

"China offers a somewhat coherent ideological alternative to the liberal-democratic order."

"China’s one-party meritocracy can advertise itself (...) as a successor to democratic capitalism, an alternative model for the developing world."

"The establishment of Chinese military pre-eminence in East Asia would be a unique geopolitical shock, with dire effects on the viability of America’s alliance systems (...) and on our ability to maintain the global trading system that undergirds our prosperity at home."

Israeli Flashpoint - Localized Skirmish? Or the Beginning of Major Global Black Swan?
simplicius76.substack.com Israeli Flashpoint - Localized Skirmish? Or the Beginning of Major Global Black Swan?

The irruption in Israel caught many of us off guard. But to some extents it was a long-expected flashpoint escalation meant to begin the denouement of the Ukrainian conflict, by taking heat off from it. There are many circulating accounts of all the things that seem “off” about Hamas’ attack, so I w...

I wasn't sure where to post this, world news it isn't, so here seems to be a good catch-all comm.

It's a collection of speculations and theories surrounding the war in Palestine and its possible origins.

Any thoughts on this theory about the Niger coup?

@bidetmarxman: In 2022, Nord Stream was bombed, forcing Germany to import gas from the US. In 2023, the govt of Niger—France's largest supplier of uranium—was overthrown in a coup. Are these events connected? 🧵 Sinc...…

While I very much sympathise with the stance of always suspecting the USA first and foremost whenever anything happens in geopolitics, I'm not sure if I credit it with this much competence.

Who Can Give Security Guarantees To Ukraine?

A main question for Ukraine since it became an independent state was who or what could potentially guarantee its security.
