What are the biggest red flags when talking with a Trek "fan"?
  • Oh inside the ship definitely, but outside space doesn't have a down. If a photon torpedo really hit the front it would push the ship backwards, not to the front and down. But it's ok, it's just a bit of fun 🚀

  • What are the biggest red flags when talking with a Trek "fan"?
  • I hadn't watched any Trek in a while and in Picard there was a scene where their ship was hit and started listing like a boat and I was like "that's not how space works!", then remembered that's the thing with Star Trek.

  • ABC NEWS unveils new-look website and app
  • Too many round corners and watching it this morning they've made a mess of their on screen graphics. There's a weird space in the bottom right and crappy orange gradients make it look like commercial tv... Was that the point?

  • Android 15 could bring the tablet taskbar to phones: Here's your first look at the 'tiny' taskbar
  • Huh, I actually had to look at the At a Glance but to see what you were talking about. I've just taken it as a given that I can't use the top 1/3 of the screen or the bottom strip.

I'm not a gestures guy at all, I like buttons!

  • Android 15 could bring the tablet taskbar to phones: Here's your first look at the 'tiny' taskbar
  • I feel like I'm the only one who still reverts navigation to the 3 dots and doesn't use any of the new stuff they're releasing.

This taskbar looks like it's going to make things happen without me wanting them to, I hope we can turn it off.

  • Too many checkmarks
  • I have a whole collection of to-do lists! One for every conceivable situation. The only lists that ever get checked off are grocery lists, and even then I get home and realise I've forgotten something.

  • Proton Mail goes AI, security-focused userbase goes ‘what on earth’
  • Doesn't sound like it

Your prompt — that is, the email you’re writing — is kept in plain text on their server

Besides, I just don't want AI in general, is that too much to ask? I wonder how long it will be until there are companies actively promoting their lack of AI.

  • Proton launches privacy-focused Google Docs alternative: Docs in Proton Drive is an open-source, end-to-end encrypted collaborative document editor
  • I degoogled to Proton mail initially. I didn't like that I couldn't search my emails (a security thing or something? But annoying) and then their Drive was absolutely useless on macos. I had about 100gb and it couldn't sync even half of it.

After much help from support I eventually moved away to a combo of Fastmail, Mega and OnlyOffice.

  • Local instance treated as remote

I'm not sure if I'm doing this wrong but when I browse Everything I can swipe posts away to hide them. But on my local instance when I swipe I get a message the post is on a remote instance. Is there a way to change this?

    Installing Batocera

I've tinkered with Linux installations before but the last time I made changes to a BIOS it looked 8-bit, not like a windows program (I use Macs, for reference).

I have a Dell Inspiron 5502 (2021) that I just want to remove Windows from and install Batocera for gaming, but I can't figure out how to wipe it.

I'm running Batocera from USB but when I go to "Install on a new disk" there are no targets available. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
