Ryujinx emulator GitHub repository currently down
  • It's insane that Nintendo feels the need to go after the strugglers that play on emulator, despite their console being the most successful on the market, still selling like crazy after almost a decade, and with the successor being one of the most anticipated consoles ever. That line must go up, even if it's just an inch more.

    Fuck Nintendo.

  • Day -9 of posting a screenshot from a game I've been playing until I also forget to post screenshots
  • I remember playing MGS as a kid and thinking "graphics will never get better than this".

It didn't age well, but I still think of it as one of the most witchcraft-powered games I've ever played. I still can't believe that they were able to craft such gorgeous environments and fluid, cinematic cutscenes on the PS1.

To his day, it's still one of my favourite games ever.

  • D6 bite damage
  • I don't know how hospitals work in the US (assuming that OP is a US citizen, because that's what we do on the internet), but where I come from, determining the cause of an injury is very important to decide on an effective treatment. Bites in particular are very nasty and can lead to a lot of scary complications (including human bites!).

There's no way in hell the nurse just said "yeah ok got it fam" and went along with her day like it wasn't important.

And maybe I'm too jaded, but I read "we also got engaged" and my mind automatically added "and everyone clapped" at the end of the sentence lol

  • D6 bite damage
  • Props to this person for never washing their mouth off their friend's blood. I'm sure they had the chance to do it, but chose to walk all over the hospital with their mouth covered in blood so that the nurse could see it, otherwise the joke wouldn't have landed.

  • Teach the children.
  • This is great advice. There's so much content to enjoy from the past 20+ years that I don't feel the desire to immediately buy the new thing. You can usually get it for far cheaper down the line.

There are communities such as PatientGamers for videogames that preach exactly this.

  • The mod who bypass' the PSN login for God of War Ragnarök got removed on Nexus Mods
  • I blame the news outlets for making it public and screaming from the rooftops that they were bypassing it.

It's not the journalists' fault if they are informing people of the existence of something. And the idea that gamers would've been able to enjoy the mod without Sony noticing if journalists never spoke of it is dumb.

So anyone have a copy saved?

I'm still able to download the file from the original link.

    https://www.nexusmods.com/godofwarragnarok/mods/22?tab=files&file_id=74

This was the original description of the mod:

    Notes
This project does not touch or modify any original game code and is NOT intended to encourage the piracy.

    1. Download the latest release
    2. Copy the version.dll and PsPcSdk.dll to the game folder
    3. Enjoy!

    Troubleshooting:
If you still encounter the login screen error, make sure to remove this file first:
    C:\Users[Username]\Saved Games\God of War Ragnarök[AccountID]\userpreferences
Upon the first popup when it asks to link the Steam account, press "NO" button.

It's worth mentioning that the mod could stop working with future updates of the game, however.

  • Lunar Remastered Collection - Announce Trailer | PS5 & PS4 Games
  • This is coming to PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch as well (source: Twitter). I've not played them but I've heard good things about these games, so it's nice that they made them available to the modern audience.

Many old JRPGs are fairly grind-prone, though. I wonder if they'll introduce some QoL features like the FF remasters, such as a fast forward toggle. And from what I'm hearing, the western release was altered to be more grindy, so I'm curious to see if this is a straight port of that version, or if they restored the original progression as it had been conceived.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered - Announce Trailer | PS5 & PC Games
  • https://blog.playstation.com/2024/09/24/horizon-zero-dawn-remastered-is-coming-to-ps5-pc-october-31-2024/

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered features over 10 hours of re-recorded conversation, mocap and countless graphical improvements that bring the game to the same visual fidelity as its critically acclaimed sequel Horizon Forbidden West. [...] The story’s many compelling characters have been upgraded, bringing them in line with current generation advances in character models and rendering.
The audio experience in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered has been significantly enhanced. We’ve completely revamped the sound mix, now supporting PS5 Tempest 3D Audio Tech2 for higher-order ambisonics and Atmos rendering for an immersive soundscape. Our sound design has also seen major improvements, with hundreds of improvements both in-game and in the cinematics.
[...] We’ve integrated custom haptics for the DualSense controller throughout the game, providing tactile feedback that heightens immersion. Additionally, we’ve introduced a new optional accessibility feature that utilizes sound and haptic feedback to notify players of interactable elements, such as pickups, that were previously only indicated visually.
[...] The PC version (Account for PlayStation Network required on PC) on Windows includes the PlayStation overlay with Trophy support and has its own set of features, such as support for ultra-wide resolutions and the latest performance enhancing technologies like NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1 with frame generation. [...]
Many of the accessibility features that were first introduced in Horizon Forbidden West have been included for this Remastered version as well; remappable controls, haptic cues, and various assist toggles will enable all players to fully enjoy the game.
For those that have already played it, we’ve made sure that your old save games will work; [...]
For existing owners of Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4, PC) and/or Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (PS4, PS5, PC): you can upgrade to the digital version of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for $9.99 on both PlayStation 5 console and on PC (via Steam or Epic Game Store). This includes fans who added the game to their libraries during PlayStation’s Play At Home initiative.
Owners of the Horizon Zero Dawn PS4 game disc can access this offer by inserting the game disc into their PS5 console (and will need to keep the disc inserted each time to play the game).
[...]PS4 game disc owners who buy the PS5 Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to access the upgrade offer.
For new fans, the game can be purchased for $49.99 on PlayStation Store, Steam, or Epic Game Store. You will receive the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition.

    Emphasis is mine.

This is just a glorified update, not a remaster. For the most part, it's a cashgrab and I would be hard pressed to justify the full price point they are asking for this thing. At least they are offering the update at a discount for existing customers.

But it's hilarious that the existing customers who bought the game physically and then bought their new flagship console apparently are not entitled to the discount. I don't understand if Sony just doesn't care about the PS5 Pro and its users, or they think that people will buy the console + external disc tray for this?

Oh, and now the game requires a PSN account on PC as well, and they only mentioned Steam and Epic Store despite the game being also released on GoG.

  • What are the best fictional books you’ve ever read?
  • Robert Silverberg's "The man in the maze" is a cool science-fiction book based on the Greek play Philoctetes. Iirc it's a very short story (maybe about one or two hundred pages), I don't remember the exact length but I recall reading it in one sitting. It is a very character-driver story where the "maze" itself is an allegory about mankind, isolation and disability, but it is very much enjoyable as a casual read as well.

The protagonist ("man in the maze") is an astronaut who has been somehow cursed to always radiate its emotions in such a way that others, even his family, find repulsive, so he self-exiles to a remote and long-dead planet to live the rest of his life in isolation. But when an alien species makes hostile contact with humans, he is needed again, as his "curse" is the only way to properly communicate with them and maybe convince them that humans are sentient beings and thus their equals.

Soulslike Enotria: The Last Song delayed indefinitely on Xbox as dev says it's being ignored by Microsoft
www.eurogamer.net Soulslike Enotria: The Last Song delayed indefinitely on Xbox as dev says it's being ignored by Microsoft

Enotria: The Last Song, the "summer Soulslike" from Italian indie developer Jyamma Games, has been delayed indefinitely…

Soulslike Enotria: The Last Song delayed indefinitely on Xbox as dev says it's being ignored by Microsoft

As spotted by Windows Central, though, Jyamma CEO Jacky Greco later went into additional detail on Discord. Following a community manager's statement dismissing speculation the studio had been "paid by Sony", Greco shared his own frustrations relating to the delay. "You can ask Xbox why they haven't answered us for two months," he wrote. "Obviously they don't care about Enotria and they don't care about you... We've Xbox Series X/S version ready, but we can't proceed with submission and release, I spent a lot of money for porting and they decided to ignore us."

A similar statement also appeared on Enotria's X/Twitter feed. After a fan inquired about the "main challenge" holding up release, Jyamma wrote, "Communication with Xbox. The game works fine on Series S and X but we cannot go through the submission process and they can take even two months to reply to us."

Greco later shared a little more on the issue the studio had enountered, explaining it was unable to open Enotria's Xbox store page and submit the game - something Microsoft's support teams reportedly initially took responsibility for, before further communications were ignored. "We really want to release the game on Xbox ASAP," Jyamma added elsewhere, "but with lack of communication on their side it is a hard task indeed."

The suggestion seems to be things might be resolved pretty quickly if Jyamma could get a response from Microsoft, but in the meantime, Enotria: The Last Song will only be available for PlayStation 5 and PC when it launches on 19th September.

    DnD5e homebrew community

I’m posting this because the DnD homebrew community is hosted on a different server than the rest of the RPG network, and some people might not know it exists.

    Universal link: !dndhomebrew@lemmy.world Alternate links: https://lemmyverse.link/c/dndhomebrew@lemmy.world https://lemmy.world/c/dndhomebrew https://ttrpg.network/c/dndhomebrew@lemmy.world

DnDHomebrew is a community dedicated to sharing and giving feedback on homebrew material for DnD 5e. It doesn’t see regular activity, which is a nice change of pace from the UnearthedArcana subreddit (where low-quality AI-written homebrews are posted daily), but it can get a bit monotonous in the long run. I’ve tried keeping it active over the past few months, and there are other content creators sharing great pieces of homebrew, such as Consort’s playable dragons and magical items. However, I’d love to see more activity from other users as well.

Please join us if you feel like sharing your homebrew rules, classes or whatever, or if you'd like to spice your games with additional options!

The Disciple v0.5 - Revamped Monk

In the past few months, I've been hard at working creating revamped versions of subpar classes for the original game: the Heroic Warrior (revamped fighter), the Highlander (revamped Barbarian), and this one's the Disciple, my revamped Monk.

As always, the purpose of my reworked classes is to make them more fun to play, giving more choices to the player both during the character creation process and in day-to-day play, and to raise their power level to a more acceptable standard, while also keeping as many of the core features as possible and not raising the bar of complexity.

Unfortunately, with DnD 2024 approaching I doubt that these classes will see much use, so unless I really need them for my weekly plays with my party, I doubt I'll keep working on them, as I think there's just not enough demand. For this reason, these classes are presented as-is, even if they are incomplete (the Disciple, for example, has perfectly functioning class features but no subclasses) for the folks who, like me, is considering sticking to 5e.

    Highlander v0.5 - Revised Barbarian

Since DnD2024 is releasing soon and there's not much point in working on 5e classes anymore, I'm releasing everything I've created in the past few months, even if it's not finished.

The Highlander is my revision of the Barbarian. The revision aims at improving both the performance of the class (which, as most people know, was pretty much dead weight after lv~8) and the feeling during play (which means, having things to do other than raging and smashing stuff), while also keeping the core mechanics as close to the original source as possible, and without adding unnecessary complexity.

The class was meant to be played alongside my other homebrew classes, of which I've already released the Heroic Warrior (revamped Fighter). As you can clearly see, this homebrew is not finished: the class itself is functional, but there is only one subclass. I was planning on going back and adding new subclasses after I played a campaign as a Barbarian to get a general feel of how it plays, but I never got the chance and, with DnD2024 approaching, there's not much point anyway, as I don't think that people will play 5e classes anymore.

Having said that, I hope that you'll enjoy it. Feedback are always welcome, and I'm always curious to hear others' opinions on my design choices. Maybe one day I'll finish working on it!

Heroic Warrior v1.4 - Revamped Fighter

In the past few months, I have been working on revamped classes for DnD5e for personal use. This is my revamped Fighter, which I've played in a (still ongoing) campaign for the past few months and had a blast with.

Unfortunately, with DnD 2024 approaching, I see very little incentive in working on this still. I don't even think people will be interested in trying it with the new rules. I don't like DnD 2024 and the 2024 Fighter looks bland and boring to me, so I'll keep playing this one instead, but I don't see myself updating it further in the future unless I find a really broken combo that needs addressing.

So, this is kind of the end, and it's a bit bittersweet to me.

    Please, enjoy :)

Random map I made to test out Inkarnate

Inkarnate is giving away 10-days free Pro membership, so I took the bait and tried it. I decided to use the limited time to bring a very old concept of mine to life, which I originally conceived as a kid in high school. Overall, there's a lot of improvements to be made (especially since I decided to stick to the original concept as much as possible, which was... not very good to begin with lol), but I had a lot of fun and it allowed me to unwind a bit before going to bed, which was nice.

Not sure if I'll stick to Inkarnate Pro, however. Inkarnate is good, but it's web browser-only and subscription-only, which are both dealbreakers for me. I think I'll try Wonderdraft next!

Brackeys is back, and will now make tutorials on Godot

This is exciting news for every aspiring game developer! Brackeys, a popular YouTuber who used to make in-depth and very user-friendly tutorials about Unity, is returning after a long hiatus, and will now create tutorials on Godot (for those who don't know, it's a FOSS game engine, but I'm pretty sure that, if you have an account here, you already know it).

Brackeys' tutorials were (and still are) the best tutorials for Unity, and have helped many aspiring devs (some of whom I know personally, and who later made a career out of it). His return, and the fact that he's now chosen to specialize on Godot, is a game-changer (pun intended) for the accessibility of the FOSS engine. Considering the recent Unity debacle, I'm happy that Brackeys will help people jump the ship, and I'm sure it will be instrumental in its success in the future.

[Bug] 'Hot' sort order in multicommunities not working correctly

If I sort a multicommunity by 'Hot', it will show all posts from community 1, then all posts by community 2, etc... kind of defying the purpose of a multicommunity at all. I solved it by sorting by 'New' instead, but I figured I'd mention it here because it took me a while to notice - I thought people were not making new posts at all, while in fact, it was just displaying all posts by a lowly populated community first.

Relic Castle down, following DMCA takedown notice

    !

    !

    FIRST PIC TRANSCRIPTION:

    Dear Pokémon fan game community,

It is with heavy heart that I announce that the Relic Castle website has been taken down following a DMCA takedown notice.

Relic Castle has always been a non-profit, ad-free, tight-knit community and we pride ourselves in what we have achieved. Members have felt at home, made friends, and even careers with us. It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that the forum part of this community, which was to turn 10 years old this year, has had to come to an end. With over 20.000 members and 65.000 posts, Relic Castle was a home to many of us.

The Discord server is not going anywhere, and the site is still visible as an archive using the Wayback Machine.

Thank you all for being with us this last decade, and thank you for making Relic Castle as awesome and life-changing as it has been for some of us.

Sincerely, Marin (Owner) & Andy (Manager)

    SECOND PIC TRANSCRIPTION

FAQ: (will update as we can/want to) 1- The website was backed up and sent to me (Cat) right before it was taken down, so nothing is truly lost. 2- TCPI should not be contacted as it was a third party who is authorized by TCPI to supply DMCAs and looks legitimate to us. 3- The DMCA was on the entire site for using "unauthorized copies of copyrighted material", so different from one game being taken down. 4- What will RC staff do next? Is there a new site or will the Discord be expanded? We don't know right now. 5- Put love into the world today

    Heroic Warrior v1.2.2 - A revamped Fighter

CONSULT THE UPDATED VERSION OF THE CLASS HERE: https://a.lemmy.world/lemmy.world/post/18745638

    !Page 1 - Class features (1) !Page 2 - Class features (2) !Page 3 - Class features (3) !Page 4 - Class features (4) !Page 5 - Subclass: Blademaster !Page 6 - Subclass: Commander !Page 7 - Subclass: Green Knight !Page 8 - Subclass: Psyker !Page 9 - Subclass: War Veteran !BackCover and Credits

The Heroic Warrior is a revamped Fighter that shares some similarities with the One DnD version of the class, but replaces the weapon masteries (which I honestly find overly simplistic and boring) with battle maneuvers and additional fighting styles.

The goal is to create a martial class that's simple to use, fun to run over multiple sessions, and on a more equal power level with casters, while also trying not to dilute its "martial" nature with spells-like or arcane powers (such as giving it overly flashy maneuvers).

The four subclasses provided are heavily inspired or directly derived by existing subclasses: the Blademaster is a blend of Battle Master and Cavalier, the Commander is an improved Purple Dragon Knight/Banneret, the Green Knight combines the Eldritch Knight and the Arcane Archer and gives them Pact Magic with third caster progression, the Psyker is a middle ground between the Echo Knight and the Psi Warrior, and lastly, the War Veteran is a mix of Champion and Samurai.

Feel free to comment and share your thoughts; I'll be happy to improve the class following other people's opinions and suggestions.

    Fighter: Ashworm Dragoon

I've been working on this one for a while, and I'm happy I've finished it in time for the release of Dune 2! The Ashworm Dragoon was a prestige class in DnD 3.5, meant as a "mundane" (as in, non-magical) special mount for fighters. The two main hurdles when writing this class was finding a way to have the ashworm come back to the player in the event of death (most familiar subclasses in the game don't have this problem, as the character has spell slots to heal/resurrect their faithful friend) and balance the burrowing speed of the ashworm (I actually found that the rules are a bit more restrictive than I thought, and I've added a few more to prevent strategies that the players could employ to cheese encounters using their burrowing speed).
