- Steam Summer Sale - Top Deals
Initial scrolling of the Steam Summer Sale seems pretty lackluster, but digging through the comments sections in other threads, a few gems have stood out, and it doesn't appear we have a thread dedicated to this yet, so post what you think are the best deals here!
Not mandatory ofc, but it'd be helpful if...
-
One game per top level post, so comments stemming from it are focused on on just it.
-
Hyperlink the game title to its Store Page
-
Include both the normal and sale price / %off
-
Include a short blurb about the game - if it's one you've played before, what did you like about it? If you're diving in blind, what grabbed your attention?
Good hunt'n!

- The Weekly Free Talk Tuesday! Discussion - 08-08-2023
Welcome to the Free Talk Tuesday Discussion!
What are you up to this week? Want to discuss gaming news? Or maybe share your progress in a game. Any non-gaming related posts are also allowed in this thread to be shared with like-minded people here.
- Are there any good casual/low-stress mobile games that aren't filled with microtransactions?
Are there any good casual/low-stress mobile games that aren't filled with microtransactions? For example: easy puzzle games, match-3 games, low-difficulty adventure games, or clicker-style games.
So far, the only good examples I've found are Monument Valley, Suika Game, and (sort of) Vampire Survivors.
I'm personally looking for games that have more progression or variety, but any suggestions are welcome.
- Getting the Skyrim itch again... Any mod recommendations to freshen it up?
Previously I've been pretty gentle with modding that game - things like SkyUI to make it a bit more PC friendly, utility mods like the one limits soul gems to ONLY being filled with their highest tier (no more wasting a grand by filling it with a mudcrab). Also LockPick Pro to effectively skip lockpicking, cuz I hate Skyrim's (bring back Oblivion's model!)... that's kinda it.
Looking for mods that bring something new to the actual gameplay. I know there are a ton of them - what are your favorites?

- So many Mods for old games got updates this month, here's a list for Ubisoft's shame
I started this as a comment on this post https://feddit.uk/post/13922816
Then I thought, let's just pop them all into a thread.
For some reason this year, all the major mod teams have been producing gold for games going back to the 90s, proving that if you let people mod, your game will never die. With the Steam game sale on, you can get a lot of game for not much money

Celebrity streamer insists that "I didn't do anything wrong"
Deadrop developers Midnight Society have "terminated" their relationship with studio co-founder and celebrity streamer Herschel "Guy" Beahm, aka "Dr Disrespect", over fresh allegations about the reasons for his infamous Twitch ban in 2020.
At the time of the ban, which came just a few months after Beahm and Twitch announced a two-year exclusivity contract, Twitch commented only that Beahm had been jettisoned for acting "in violation of our Community Guidelines". Beahm himself described the move as "a total shock" in a later conversation with the Washington Post. In August 2021, he took Twitch to court over the ban, but the dispute was eventually settled with neither party admitting any wrongdoing.
Last week, however, former Twitch strategic partnerships account director Cody Conners alleged in a Xitter post that an unnamed person "got banned because [he] got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch Whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text. Case closed, gang." (Twitch Whispers is a now-retired private 1-to-1 messaging service.) According to two anonymous former Twitch employees cited by the Verge in a subsequent investigation - one of whom worked on Twitch's trust and safety team at the time of the ban - the unnamed person in question was Beahm.
Beahm hasn't yet addressed these latest claims about his behaviour, beyond tweeting last week that "Listen, I'm obviously tied to legal obligations from the settlement with Twitch but I just need to say what I can say since this is the fucking internet. I didn't do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found, and I was paid."

- Old School RuneScape player says 'see ya at a million!' after pickpocketing 500,000 NPCs in a doomed quest for treasure under multiple self-imposed restrictions
Eat_my_yarmulke is on a quest to complete the easy treasure trail collection log (OSRS lets players track the drops they get from the game's various activities via logs, which turn green when completed), but they're also operating under multiple self-imposed restrictions. For one thing, they're playing on Ironman Mode, which means they can't do things like trade with other players. Second, they're skilling, meaning they're deliberately keeping their combat level at its lowest possible rank.
So, that means they can't get clue scrolls from other players or from fighting NPCs. They have to restrict themselves to pickpocketing roaming NPC fascists. Even worse, they can't actually complete all the clue scrolls they pick up: some of them might have requirements like "Wear steel armour" that are beyond anyone deliberately keeping their defence stat low.
The cynical among you might be tempted to accuse our poor player of automating some of this hard work, but it's a claim they brush off on Reddit. In response to a player asking "how much the script cost," eat_my_yarmulke responded "First of all, rude. Secondly my Razer Naga Trinity was like 60 bucks at best buy and has held up very well to all the clicking, would recommend," and told another that "The pickpocketing itself would only take like a hundred hours but with completing the clues it's around a thousand for me."

- Man accused of attempted murder in hammer attack over online gaming argumentwww.nbcnews.com Man accused of attempted murder in hammer attack over online gaming argument
The 20-year-old suspect is accused of flying across the country to confront someone he met through a fantasy game, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said.
Edward Kang, 20, flew from Newark, New Jersey, to Jacksonville, Florida, to confront someone he had an online dispute with, Nassau County, New Jersey, Sheriff Bill Leeper said. Court records show he was charged Monday with second-degree attempted murder and attempted burglary.
A preliminary investigation indicates Kang knew the victim only online, having met him playing a fantasy video game called ArcheAge. According to the game's website, it is shutting down its North America and European servers this week because of a declining number of users.
The victim, who was not publicly identified, told authorities he took a break from playing video games when he saw Kang standing with a hammer above his head in a “strike position.” His stepfather woke up to the sounds of screams for help and found his stepson on the ground struggling with Kang above him, authorities said.
- Help Finding a Game
So some months ago I watched a trailer for an upcoming game that looks pretty neat, but of course I can't remember the name for the life of me. Maybe y'all can help me. I don't think it's been released yet.
It was a FPS maybe with RPG elements set in a cyber-disytopia. The trailer had the player exploring an abandoned gas station in a desert type setting. Armed with a revolver. I think the enemies were some kinda robots. The setting and aesthetics were kinda 80's retrofuture. The player character was driving a very Night Rider kinda car, but it hovered with no wheels.
I've just built a computer that's not a POS laptop and have been searching through steam for fun things to play, that I'd never dreamed of being able to run, when I remembered this one I'd seen that looked interesting.
Thanks for the help in advance!

- Jori - shadow of the erdtree
This DLC is absolutely amazing. Might even be better than the base game.
That being said, Jori is killing me. I can't barely get him down to 50%. Using my mimic tear of course. Without giving too much info on my build, most bosses so far haven't been bad. Renalla was hardest so far but only took 5-10 tries. I want this last map and must get through Jori to get it.
Harder than malenia imo.
I'm over leveled- in the 450s. NG+3 or 4.
Any recommendations on Jori?? Help!
I'm on XSX.
EDIT:
> Harder than malenia imo
I'm an idiot.
