Nah, I take solace in knowing that if we destroy ourselves or collapse all civilization with our own self-destructive nature, life will go on and Earth will renew. We're fuck ups to be sure, but even we can't fuck up enough to completely sterilize the planet.

Normally I'd totally agree with you but the more I see how badly we've fucked everything (google AMOC and water temps) the more I worry about runaway effects that continue far after we've been deleted entirely from the ecosystem (and most of the ecosystem to boot) - there's only so much CO2 you can pump into a system before warming becomes rapidly self sustaining - see Venus.
I don't think it's "prioritise humans over the planet" but more "we should be able to look after one another as a base level of being human. If we can't figure that out how the hell can we focus on bigger things like the planet". Not saying what we should and shouldn't do but just throwing shade at our ability.
For example, we're quickly making the planet too hot for some people to live where their homes are. We should find ways to stop heating up the planet to help them!

Like with most things in comedy, you will need to hear his timing, context, and the cadence of his voice. You can still not think it is funny, but there clearly was a joke being told.
Try asking those who believe Man has a significant effect on global warming a simple question. Tell me exactly and specifically what changes you propose. And then tell me exactly and specifically what results we will see and in what time period due solely to those changes. File this under makes you feel good about yourself but accomplishes nothing but higher energy prices.
It means a slowed increase in temperature which means safety for coastal areas, a slowed increase in extreme weather events - there are a lot of proposals out there and studies on their effect. You just seen to want to say fuck it, I don't want to change or pay slightly more for energy or change your actions.
Want a simple change? Stop using fossil fuels. We had 50 years to come up with a solution, but some rich assholes and their bootlickers (like you) decided we don’t deserve a solution because their bottom line is more important than the survival of the entire species. But, this is nothing new. This was previously done by Big Tobacco and Big Sugar, perhaps even more.
If our species cared about our species' future, we would live with whatever energy generation our only habitat could environmentally tolerate/sustain, and we clearly wouldn't have bred to the point that the planet is pushing back.
