We're deep into the baggy era mate
We're deep into the baggy era mate
We're deep into the baggy era mate
When can we be in the no pants era? ๐ฉ
Anytime you wanna come over.
me and the boys entering our tunic era
Skinny pants are a satanic device solely made to torture the inappropriately shaped
I used to think that until I found drop crotch jogger jeans. Loose up top but skinny through the calves and cuffed to stay out of the mud. If I get extra longs I can wear them up over my bellybutton and the crotch is just normal. I looked for and found them when I found myself fantasizing about living life in my jogger scrub pants (where usually mud is the least worrisome thing that could wind up on my pants hems). Also they make my hips look huge in comparison to my tiny ankles and top so I get to look like a Pixar mom.
The day I wear drop crotch is the day my GF dies laughing
One leg baggy, the other leg skinny
I love this.
If nothing else, as a statement
Thighs baggy, calves skinny.
Vomit on his sweater already
This. I prefer a more slim fit, but I've got some cake to fit. Too many mens jeans are cut for guys with Hank Hill butts.
Jodhpur pants?
Hammer pants?
Unfortunately JNCO went out of business 7 years ago; shame, really - it could have made for a great moonshot stock bet! ๐
I've been using baggy jeans for around 20 years now, I don't intend to stop. Fuck the fashion police!
I wish Iโd held onto all my JNCOs instead of donating them all 20 years ago โฆ.
My son also wishes Iโd held onto all of em.
I'm a relaxed-fit man. Occasionally the rest of society aligns with my taste.
I'm staying right between both and I'm not moving.
Pants that fit?
3 cheers for figuring out that being un-trendy means youโre in style twice as much as anyone shifting their wardrobeโฆ
But also 5 stars cause you never gave any fucks either way anyway.
And by era I mean 6 fucking months
At least we're out of the 'holes in jeans' timezone.
I saw a woman with like 40% of her leg showing through holes in her fashion jeans yesteday.
now for only 140% the price!
Ive been wearing loose fit Dickies and Vans checkerboard slip ons for about 25 years now.
Being cool as fuck has never gone out of style.
Vans Slip-On Pros are basically the sharks of the shoe world: They hit optimal design a very long time ago, have barely changed since, and continue to remain one of the most effective species out there. They don't seem to make as many color variant runs as they used to though, I used to have the Lizzie Amano editions in lavender / black and they looked awesome, I ran them ragged as cycling shoes.
Damn right.
I never thought that the absurd baggy pants I wore back in school would ever come back into style because they were truly awful.
But hey, what do I know - now they're back and so am I ... How do you do, fellow kids!?!
I'm preparing to bust my kikwears out of storage, but it's not quite time yet.
One leg baggy, other leg skinny
I'm totally cool with baggy fit coming back for a while, just please don't bring back the pre-distressed dirty washed jeans that look like you've been rolling around in a barn all day and also shit yourself.
Weโre already moving onto skinnier but flared styles. Skinny skinny is next.
I've always rocked regular or baggy. It's a comfort and practicality thing. Having skinny jeans takes away the point of denim being durable and warm, something it needs to be loose for.
I feel colder in loose jeans. air gets in.
Aye, but in colder temperatures tight denim cools over leaving no air pocket to trap body heat or improve wind resistance. There's no one on this planet that can generate body heat on such a level it can counters the atmosphere, so creating a little atmosphere inside the denim with loose jeans is the next best thing. It's the same concept as single vs double glazed windows.
If you want tight pants in cold climate, need to use high textured material likecorduroy or fleece, otherwise add a thermal base layer under the denim.
It's the ciiiiircle of pants
We need an overlay also of the amount of rips in jeans
That one spins in the opposite direction
One way to tell where we are on the cycle is check to see what people between the ages of 35-40 are wearing.
I can't always buy my kind of stuff at cheap (enough) places. A few years back it was hella difficult to find straight fit jeans, and even now it's rare to find one in the right size and colour. Bootcut (?) jeans made a pretty belated comeback in my country back when I was in my mid 20s, and I don't think I can find them anymore. If I could, I would wear a not-too-wildly-bootcut one for summer.
So this is what people mean when they say that the pendulum has swung too far
Someday we'll return to better times
Are the steps in between filled with bootcut jeans and flared pants?
It gets weird in the gaps; kilts, parachute pants, togas
At no point will it be at the actual best point: straight cut. They're perfect. They show off ripped leg muscles without ripping or looking painted on.
Now that I appreciate a Guy's butt in slim jeans they're gone :(
My butt makes baggy jeans look slim.
I donโt know if I was just too old when we switched to the skinny pants trend but I found them terrible on my balls
Thatโs because they tried to mix them with low cut pants which was also popular in the 2000s. They are much better now.
The one time my girlfriend bought me a pair of skinny jeans I tried them on and couldn't bend at the knees, she burst out laughing immediately, firmly believe she bought them 100% as a prank
It's always been baggy for me, I like the swishing around my ankles XD
Yeah i grew up in the 90s. The skinny jean crazy didn't land with me. I wore baggy carpenters until they died, then the widest bootcut I could find.
Now I am in heaven, my favorite aesthetic is everywhere, baggy jeans, shirt sleeves over long sleeves, hell yes let's skate
I hate the feel of loose fabric on me. If I wasn't born male, I'd wear leggings.
I hate the feel of loose fabric on me. If I wasn't born male, I'd wear leggings.
Just wear leggings with shorts over them, thatโs what I do when working out outdoors in the colder months. Itโs a perfectly acceptable look.
Yes
The skinny jeans era was a nightmare of elasticated crap that died on contact with a washing machine. Weโd better not have to go back to seeing everyoneโs pants over their low waistline though.
I don't wanna see no buttcracks peaking at me
Joggers broke me out of the cycle, free your mind
I've been sceptical of joggers at first, but now I cannot imagine wearing or buying anything else. a string instead of a button is such a quality of life improvement on its own.
They're like modern day utility pants! Plus you can get them with fleece lining which is god tier for winter
The droopy crotch on most joggers is really annoying for me. I like a more loose fit around the thighs but not MC Hammer levels of loose.
My gf says the same thing. She thinks they're comfy but she cant wear them as part of an outfit. I'm sure if someone made joggers without the hang they'd get plenty of customers. I'm surprised nobody has tried yet, its like the only legitimate complaint I hear from people about them lol
Clothing and other things trend about every 30 years. And it's driven by nostalgia. As you approach your 40s you'll start seeing things that were popular when you were 10 and it makes you want to buy it, even if it's a dumb nik-nak.
Resist nostalgia purchases, folks.
I never stopped playing Mortal Kombat 1-3. Itโs hard to get someone nostalgic for a time they never left haha.
I do have the arcade machine now though. My wife spoils me.
As for my clothes, Iโve smoked, drank, and done way too many drugs to actually look youthful. When old folks tell me that I look younger than I am, I tell them itโs because Iโm wearing the same clothes I bought 20 years ago and I look like a college age millennial because of that, and their sense of time is off.
I just buy what's comfy. And cheap. Most of all, I buy the first pair that fits. Who has time to worry about style, really?
When's bell bottoms?
Hopefully never again
I found one during winter and have been wearing it as much as possible.
I love the freedom of movement and "airiness".
Cool nuggets
Things are getting a little JNCly.
I went baggy back in the 00s and I'm NEVER going back. 'Straight cut' is as baggy as I'll wear em. Love those baggy pants on my SO though ๐
We are all dependent on Mr. Mugatoโs choices
Iโm looking forward for the baggy jeans trend. I donโt want to see the outline of anyoneโs dick.
Is there some emo enclave of washed up millennials in your area or something?
We are in the "fashion just makes it harder to move", era
Finally
Quick! Kill all the designers before it goes back!
Industrial advertising, fashion is a demand creation system.
LET'S GO!!
Welp, I'm into neither stockings nor potato bags. Just plain straight preferably black jeans with deep pockets
Except they're not baggy, they're just...wide. And short.
So I tried to apply Hegelian dialectic to this. Either style is the thesis and the opposite style is the antithesis. There's something about each style that isn't appealing to each generation and so they move away from it. There's a lack of synthesis so we never move past these two styles and never create a new one. We are locked in the vicious cycle. This suggests something inhuman is interfering with the process.
I wear what I like(I wear batman suite)
