One of my close friends got her doctorate last year and recently hired as a scientist at EPA. She is improving methods of surveying urban soils using remote methods like ground penetrating radar, this helps to inform landowners/potential developers the true conditions of the soil they are building on. A shame the government doesn’t think that’s important anymore.

- The government is being run by the sorts of people who are doing the illegal dumping of hazardous waste that your EPA friend is trying to detect. Of course they don't want her to do it; they don't want to be held accountable!
  
  Yea I get that, and explaining its usefulness will fall on deaf GOP ears, but for the record It’s not even hazardous waste…it’s the urban soils that tend to have a lot of organic carbon content from all the living shit and garbage used as backfill especially in east coast cities. Standard protocols for direct soil sampling don’t consider carbon as much as they should and also remote methods (like GPR) don’t measure total organic carbon. Not high stakes research but important to get a full picture of the soils on a building site.

  You're getting downvoted and I'm soon to follow, but everything you said is reasonable and it's almost never wrong to ask for evidence. I continue to be surprised at how tightly this community clings to the narrative that non-voters alone decided the election.

  1st, gerrymandering has nothing to do with the presidential election. It was obvious from your post you know very little about US elections.
  Next, there were 8.2 million fewer votes in 2024 than 2020. All of that loss was on the democratic side. Do you have evidence literally millions of voters were disenfranchised?
  Had those missing voters participated in good faith in 2024, Trump would not be president today.

I assume everything they will roll back is preventing companies from making more money.
- Only select companies, and only In the short term. In the medium to long term it won't help them.

- I think you are overthinking it. They don't even have climate change in their considerations, they are solely focused on the short term profits corporations can make from dismantling government regulations. That is how corporate cleptocracy works.
- They think/know they’ll be rich enough to avoid the negative problems climate change will present, or they’ll be dead before it happens. They’re writing checks that the rest us will have to cash and laughing at us as we cheer for them to do so.

- most countries have largely abandoned climate change, saw a video by SABIAN. even in research its hard to get funding if you mention climate change in your grants.

  they were giving participation grades to failing seniors when i was in the mid 2000,(most of them would benefit from staying in for a year and taking the important again) but the way the district did it, was just shunt them off into an "elective class" that wont affect thier funding if they are failing that class too. this was a blue area. from what ive gathered only a small handful were actual high achieving students, because they all had scholarships/rides, everyone else is struggling or disadvantaged(they were rubbing it in peoples faces in the audience)

Geez I hope somebody doesn’t whip out some amendment or other and explain things to this man in a way he’ll be sure to comprehend.
