It's been referred to committee, who knows it if it will make it back out. I'd say that I don't expect it to come to a vote, but I'm not making any predictions at this point. I mean the Republican party has been trying to get rid of public school for some time.

Compared to the rest of the government, the DoEd is tiny. They make up a negligible amount of Federal employees (rounds to 0%), and have a relatively small budget (less than 2%).

DoE is the department of Energy, this is the DoEd. Other than that you're correct.(post was edited)The overwhelming majority of DoEd-associated government employees are associated with student loans or state run programs like Vocational Rehabilitation services.
