German naval commanders are free to choose their own music
BBC ffs come on, it’s the Imperial March, not “Darth Vader’s theme”.
Edit: also that junior officer or senior noncom walking in the fantail is giving off the biggest “fuck me, skipper is such a goddamn nerd” vibes lmao
86 0 ReplyA destroyer my friend was on blasted never gonna give you up from their active sonar at hundreds of decimals to rick roll a submarine they were tracking.
83 1 ReplyHundreds of decimals? Wow, that's at least ten! Maybe even twenty!
20 0 ReplyCan confirm, 20 decimals gives you 100.

I'm digging this, I didn't know Germans are allowed to have fun at work.
74 0 ReplyAre you serious?
Work is fun in Germany, and one of the few occasions where fun is culturally permitted.
Efficiency and Precision are the children of Fun and Joy after all.
63 1 ReplyToo credible from Bremen? Worms? Ze Black Forest?! I'm on to you, you democracy-inventing propagandists.

Well, with permission from the corresponding ministry, it's allowed as long as the local government does not veto it.
27 0 ReplyZe work time iz over! Ze fun time iz now!
- said some guy on the Internet in a terrible German accent
12 0 ReplyZe fun time iz now!
Feierabend is the German word for the time after work. It literally translates to party evening.

The American Navy let's us do this a little.
Maybe not in a channel like this, but out at sea, I got to choose a refueling tune once. (smaller ships refuel from bigger ships)fish on by primus was my choice at the time.
35 0 ReplyBig ships can refuel from relatively small ships too! (Source aircraft carrier)
10 0 ReplyJust hook up your reactor to their reactor and just let them mingle, like an eighth-grade dance?
9 0 ReplyLol, I guess an oiler would be smaller than a carrier, huh. We'd be refueling on one side and a carrier would be refueling on the other. While we're pulling pallets over via span wire, like chumps, the carrier was just using its helos. Good times
