This is what happens when your whole party is conflict averse PMCs, they cannot conceive of facing the fire or campaigning onward like nothing's happened, because they back down at the first sight of the right's finger-wagging and bad faith condemnations. They only know how to slink away from a barking dog, and can't conceive of barking back so loudly that the other dog is cowed.
It's also why I think it was a mistake for Dems since Clinton to basically jettison any tone of gruffness or indelicacy from their party to triangulate against Trump. The older, mostly-white "based libs" like Ron Perlman who attacked Trump from a place of righteous-if-somewhat-problematic rage were the best answer to people like Trump.
There are lots of people who aren't polished enough to graduate to the effete heights of the party who have the earned wisdom and life experience that could deal with a fancy lad like Trump. Get Sean O'Gaelicpotato or whatever his name is, that union boss, to publicly bully him and make Trump look like a wimp.
The problem is the Democrats, just like the Republicans before the MAGA era, are a party of urbane elites. For every Marjorie Taylor Greene or former child killing Navy SEAL with a R next to their name there's some geriatric Ivy Leaguer who frets over which pair of cufflinks to wear to brunch voted in by the same MAGA hogs because they profess to hate "The Genders" and pledge to prosecute people who burn the flag.
Fucking lanyards, defeat means nothing but lost political points to them. All their rhetoric was empty, all their "Trump is a fascist" posturing meant nothing.
On the other hand, the Dems have abandoned every minority or oppressed class in the USA. Like Rome when it left Britannia, it has buggered off and told them "look to you own defense". It is our job to step in as Arthur.
The time is ripe to build dual power in a way that even BLM and COVID were only training sessions for.
Absolutely pathetic. Literally the easiest spin ever "Trump himself is a victim of the culture that he creates". I could pretend to be a lib and pull something from this.
"Trump's calls for violence came back to bite him. Oh no, they're blaming us. Oh no, we gotta stop being mean!"
Is Trump a quasi-fascist genocidal freak (he is) or not? Does he intend to sign executive orders and push for legislation to kill, directly or indirectly, marginalized minorities? (He does)
Then you continue saying that, and if the consequences of his words come for him, that's on him. Calling Hitler Hitler isn't the problem... Hitler is the problem.
All of this is somewhat rendered moot when the alternative is also just Hitler, but, pretending that isn't the case for rhetorical reasons.
To be very fair, they’re just demoralized at this point.
Trump was not supposed to survive that shot. He tilted his head for a second and the bullet missed. Literally just an inch and it would have blown out the back of his head.
Joe Biden said only God can tell him to step down. God has cast His ballot.
I know exactly this type of guy, he loves stopping you and trying to add nuance when you suggest any voters might just be stupid. He also loves pointing out new problems Democrats have with reaching out to voters and expect to be rewarded with nods by the people listening to him, while never ever taking a stab at making a concrete messaging plan of his own.
I hate the idea libs have that everyone else is like an... "egg liberal" or something, that they just need the right liberal education and they'll become a liberal. They're so smug about it.
