The Nintendo Switch successor may have been shown to the press and developers at Gamescom, based on the latest rumor.
The Xbox Two podcast co-host Jez Corden took to Twitter to share that he recently came across a bunch of rumors regarding Nintendo showing and discussing the Nintendo Switch success...
"And won't natively run switch games. Players will have the opportunity to purchase their favorite titles in our new eshop available exclusively on our new console" - Nintendo probably
I mean Nintendo has been pretty good with backwards compatibility so I'm hopeful they will do that again. That will be the only thing that could push me towards buying a new nintendo console atm. I would sell my switch lite to add to my new switch fund lol
The joy cons will be replaced with JoyPads that will feature a screen that can be used to interact with games. It can also kinda play games by themselves but you have to be near the main Switch-U system. Nintendo's flagship game for the system will be 1-2-Switch-U.
There's no way Nintendo abandons the removable joycons. They're such an important part of the switch experience.
Literally all Nintendo needs to do is release essentially the same hardware format with increased computing power, better screen, and a bit more "robustness" in the hardware (the OG feels plasticy and flexes quite a lot).
They'd sell it probably as much as the original. Because BOTW and TOTK deserve higher graphical output.
Prepare yourself, we’re in for these mockups until Nintendo does an official announcement 🙃 maybe we’ll get lucky and a few talented artists will fool the internet again
No, the Wii U's issue is the name is nonsensical. What the fuck does the U mean? It sounds like an add-on or health title.
No one had an issue with identifying the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as a successor to the Nintendo Entertainment System, or the Super Famicom as the successor to the Famicom.
PS5 can't even consistently give 4k60 on all titles. A tablet with a way lower power draw will not be able to do this for but a bare minimum of titles.
The things I'm curious about is if it's gonna have weak hardware like the switch does and will it have a working emulator just as fast as the switch did?
One of my favorite things about the switch is just how in the span of a half decade we have emulators able to play commercial releases fairly well if your PC can handle it. It's just absolutely funny how sintendo wanted to make a portable home console but made something so easy to emulate when compared to any other console of the same generation.
I don't play my switch anymore, I exclusively use Yuzu on my PC.
I can play games like Xenoblade 3 in native 4k 60fps with HDR on my TV using a pro controller. No way am I going back to using the switch docked. Ever.
Edit: also 4k mario kart deluxe with mods. Shrek, Peter Griffin and homer are perfect additions to any race
They could be preparing for an announcement. This would give time for the press to do write ups ahead of time. If this is true there must be some kind of NDA/embargo so we won't know anything until after a potential announcement.
If that was the case though, I would have expected them to have announced it already 🤔. Nintendo doesn't strike me as the kind of company to show their hardware to the press long ahead of announcement.
