What are you brewing?
  • I brew 1000l of it so whole day cleaning filters, clogged pipes and other stuff that usually take few hours. Still better than one time blackout stopped the brewery. Unboiled mash and starches are hard to clean lol.

  • I am too conservative for this but I really like your prisonhooch experiments.

I don't know if you brew pumpkin beer before but it can get really messy. I had to get in to tank and shovel out pumpkin residue last year.

    What are you brewing?
  • It is the same as dry hopping in beer. So in primary fermentation for ~week. If you let it for too long it gets grass tones (like bad grass taste).

This one had too much hops (~10g/l) for next time I will add 1-5g/l. As for what variety to choose go for some aromatic hops for dry hopping (it is usually specified in shops/e-shops), I used Summit.

  • Wild ferments?
  • I did some wild ferments few years ago. The main criteria is if it smells and tastes good.

    • lactic smell and taste (like yogurt or cheese) is fine but for some too acidic

    • alcohol don't smell that strong, it is usually just a hint

    • fruity and funky notes are good

    • vinegar smell is bad, it means you made vinegar

    • bad smell and taste like bitter, chemicals or rotting this can be dangerous, but it's disgusting so you don't drink it

    • ...

Try it and you will see.

    What are you brewing?
  • I always make cider from apples I can get my hands on so not specific in that way. But I recently shared here this blog post and it has everything you need to start brewing.

Juicing is the biggest problem so if you sort this out you can start experimenting with it. I will finalize some recipe for it next year.

  • SRAM Rival 1 brifter replacement
  • I was horrified after my crash- everything was crooked, spun and in places where it shouldn't be.

When I told it to my friend he just told me that if it would stay in place I would have to replace most of the parts.

I had heavy bags on (last day of trip) and bent my rack, so yeah I think he's right.

Share whatever - success brews, failures, questions...

Fruit season is in full swing, so give the people who don't know what to do with too much fruits some ideas ;-)

    SRAM Rival 1 brifter replacement
  • Some advice for next time:

The leavers can't be tighten too much to the handlebar. In case of crash it will just twist and don't break. It happened to me few months ago and only damage was on the hoods (the rubber condoms on top tear).

  • I opened first two bottles of my #cider the test batches with hops and spices.
  • When I cross post (mastodon/lemmy) I try to reply to lemmy comments with lemmy account and vice-versa. This time I didn't checked it so some comments don't show where they should.

Yes I think that the hops made it to foam and it may cause some oxidation. (As someone else suggested).

  • My reply to you doesn't appear for me on Lemmy (this is posted from my mastodon account).

So here it is for the others:

yes, if you want to know more: https://mstdn.dk/@EvilCartyen/113198511530283716

It is much better resource than what I wrote on Lemmy year ago. He also writes about what you can add. In my case I make cider from whatever apples I can get my hands on.

  • How to make home-made cider
www.carstenboll.dk How to make home-made cider

It is super-easy to make cider - like seriously. At the most basic level, all you have to do is press some fresh apple juice and then leave it to ferment. Once it stops bubbling you have cider. This is a hobby which is only as hard as you want

What's your take on genetic engineering?
  • Because selective breading is technically a form of genetic engineering/modification. I think it's fine and we do it for thousands of years.

New methods make it easier, faster and gives more options what to do (modified proteins...).

  • A Maintenance Tram!
  • I had a conversation with my brother about them. They aren't used where I live because our trams have gps and modules that do the same thing. And how Prague isn't able to do it because they messed up digitalization...

From logo I assume that this modified T3 is used in Prague.

  • Issues with US-05?

I heard from my boss that on Czech FB brewing group was discussion about US-05 from Fermentis.

Someone had issues with them, even commercial brewerys. We had to throw out 2 batches of IPA so it was probably because of that - same flaw both times.

So it got me thinking if it is only local issue or if it is more wide spread.

    This is fine.

I wish that you all have nice weekend weather.

At least this time it is taken more seriously than in 2002.

    Tatra T3

This one got my attention because it is in retro color scheme. It was on regular line but runs also sometimes on H4 line here, so it is museum piece.

    "Street view" osm projects?

Hi is there some project, instructions or some github repo for converting 360° video and GPX file to something like street view?

I would like to map this way local cycling routes.

    What are you brewing?

This is meant as general discussion thread, so share everything related to brewing - questions, ideas, what's fermenting etc.

As discussed in my recent post here I will pin it for about a week and do another thread in a month and we will see how it goes.

Volební kampaní se bude zabývat i Ústavní soud. Předseda opozičního hnutí Tomio Okamura řekl, že v kampani hodlá pokračovat, trestní oznámení a stížnosti označil za metody politické konkurence.

You maybe guessed it - inciting hate against person or group of people.

It is in Czech but translation is so easy now that it probably doesn't matter.
