I'm curious, what other regimes are on that list?
"Read theory", to me, is a first but very important step. The more people read theory, the more people really understand why the movement exists. Unfortunately, after we actually read it, not everyone can put it into practice.
Person who read the books might not have union in his workplace, or being a communist in his environment is really unpopular and could harm him physically or mentally. In this situation, what can he actually do? How can he put theory into practice? And that, to me, the question majority of communists deal with all the time.
In this situation, the best way to utilise knowledge we got is to share it, try to push our ideas into masses because red scare didn't go anywhere, myths about USSR, China, communism are still here and although they look more like a rotten corpse than actual arguments, people still fucking use them.
And that's what most of us already do, which is great. I personally do it all the time, but it is not easy, even family members (or especially them) could be really hard to convince that communism will not take their food or make them all use the same toothbrush.
Trying to make people understand, or even listen, is not an easy and a very lengthy process. Some give up, some push forward, but if you don't have any other means to help the movement, what can you actually do?
UZZR KILLED MY FAVOURITE BOIS KULAKS, THEY JUST WANTED TO EXPLOIT PEOPLE WHY KILL THEM, THEY HONEST BUSINESSMEN
That would be awesome to have something like that because random comment sections can be really chaotic.
I get you, I'm surrounded with this narrative and even have people who openly hang the OUN flag in their bedroom and showcase it in online classes... no one speaks out. Why? Because they were forces who "fought against both sides", even though it's proven that it's not true, it doesn't matter, because government propaganda supports this narrative (you can already guess where I live).
Don't be upset, you are not alone. Don't let them discourage you. We are with you, comrade!
Need your help!
Hi everyone, I want to make a video about the Israel-Palestine war because recently I found out that a lot of people in my University actively support Israel or don't know nearly enough about the conflict to come to any conclusions.
I want to include as many strong points as possible to really make it clear that Israel are not "the good guys", show how fucked up the thriving Zionism is in Israel and how it destructive nature led to recent events.
If you have any information that would create a strong narrative to (hopefully) change their minds, that would be wonderful. Of course I will do my own research, but I want to make sure that I don't miss anything important.
Thank you!
it has been decades.
Yes it has, however, not all of the attempts at changing the situation were violent, most of the violence did come from Israel, but peaceful demonstrations and waiting didn't help Gaza and Palestinians trapped in there. You know why?
Because Israel isn't going anywhere, their government won't just magically change their mind, so just sitting there praying that it will end someday – won't help. That's why a violent and armed response was given to Israel.
Saying:
There have been multiple attempts to attack Israel and the consequence was always death.
Is implying that people need to give up and not fight for their freedom. People are dying slowly but steadily? Well if you fight your situation, then a lot more will die, so just sit there, relax and enjoy the view of your cities drowning in poverty, without electricity or enough food to get through the day.
If you really wanted this to end, you wouldn't say:
IMO, the cycle needs to be broken. And IMO, this works only with government changes in both countries.
Because it is not possible. It's not a cycle of violence that needs to be broken, but the entire system that enables violence against another group of people. How can you break a cycle of violence that you DIDN'T START? How can YOU change when YOU are the victim?
This comment seems to be pro-peace and pacifistic, but it's just a facade. In reality it defends the status quo of imperialistic and racist government having total control of the occupied land of another country, protecting their right to do anything they want with people living there because the alternative:
was always death.
Top comment says:
One side is working to dismantle democracy. The other side is not.
WHAT DEMOCRACY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? The one that enables your country to fund a genocide across the globe DESPITE the outrage of it's citizens and the... WHOLE WORLD?
You would enable Republicans to take away rights from LGBT people in America. You would enable abortion bans and enable even more of the genocide in Gaza.
How you can enable MORE genocide? People are finite, you either commit genocide, or you don't. Or you think with your tiny fucking libbrain that SMALL GENOCIDE is totally okay?
But for now, you have to understand the reality of our two party system, and deal with it.
Yeah, sure, do not try to change anything, just deal with our shitty system because there's no other option. Jesus fucking Christ...
edit: I wanna post this reply in their comment section, let's see what happens :)
Destiny couldn't even handle the fact that reaction content is stealing, what the hell is he doing on the list?
That's sad. Was it intentional or something happened to the server?
Jeez I need to come back to that server, had the honor of building some stuff there myself. Such a wonderful place to be in, 100% recommend
Hello everyone, I just installed Linux (I'm new to it), in particular Linux Mint, with dual booted Windows for games. Tinkered with it a bit, loved the way it looked, loved how fast it is, but I really don't want to stop on one option and stick with it for a while. I want to try new stuff, new distros (that's how you call it, right?), new customisation options etc. I really like setting up things how I want them to look like and function, and I'm not sure Linux Mint gives me the full potential of Linux.
If I'm right, please recommend something that really will impress me with options (I wouldn't call myself tech savvy, but I like to learn), or, if I'm wrong, please suggest the way to customize the hell out of Mint, would really appreciate it.
Thank you!
edit: Thanks everyone for your replies, I'm really interested in KDE Plasma now. You are the best <3
Oh, okay, got it. I just don't remember people using this rhetoric before, or might have missed it.
Why though? In its current state, whether they (the people) support their government or not, they don't have a say in political decisions made by said government, so the differentiation is really important. Otherwise, if we treat them as one in the same, we would make a mistake of believing in "collective punishment", which is the exact tactic Isn'treal uses.
I think "niche" doesn't necessarily mean "unpopular", it's rather about the topics being covered. Without his awesome charisma and jokes he wouldn't be as popular.
Hey everyone, just wanted to express my gratitude towards lemmygrad and its community. Every time I feel like I don't belong, or generally get sad about the situation in the world and in my country, I can come here and get to see people sharing the same ideas and worldviews that I have, and it makes me so much happier, more hopeful even, which encourages me to continue expressing my beliefs, learn more and try to make situation a little better.
So thank you, lemmygrad, and thanks to all the comrades who are present here.
edit: sorry comrades from hexbear, you are also awesome and thank you for federating with us!
I'm not really familiar with nazi symbols, but I'm pretty sure it's not how it looks and should look the opposite way. The design is really similar though, so I'm not sure. Maybe they had different styles over the years?
