Ubisoft comes crawlin' back to Steam
  • Learning that companies are doing this so you can’t install competitor’s games

Wait, wat? I hadn't heard this explanation. I cynically thought it before, but I've never seen it suggested by anyone other than me.

  • Favourite FPS Campaign
  • Yup, I was friends with his older brother. Both of them were/are a bit weird, didn't think much of either of them academically until grade 12. Then their math & and computer genious came out. Had a few university classes with them, the older brother has better social skills, but Lee is more creative IMHO.

Upshot is I played Capsized in 2009, so that was neat.

  • Favourite FPS Campaign
  • I've been meaning to try the original Crysis now that I have a computer that can play it. I started it, but then life happened.

DOOM Eternal didn't do it for me. It's Doom-ish, but not enough. It'd be a better game if it wasn't set in the Doom universe trying to add a bunch of non-Doom elements to the game. Doom (2016) did that too, but not to the same extent. I like the older Dooms mostly for their simplicity: get gun, see bad guy, shoot gun. Pick up health. Repeat. Doom Eternal did that, but added a story, weapon mods, and skills. Fine mechanics, but not Doom enough for me.

  • I once did a toke at a party and then I died true story
  • I once caught gay from a used marijuana needle. Never again. Took a lot of prayer and fasting to make that go away. Ban it. Ban it all!

(/s, of course. Shouldn't be necessary but this is the internet....)

  • How many Europeans speak non-native languages, anyway?
  • People think of the Celtic languages originated in Western Europe, but in reality the Celtic tribes were driven West by invading Germanic tribes. Looks like Albanian just happened to survive.

  • Human vs machine
  • A few friends and I are planning a 90s lan. Simple rules like no games published after 2001-08-23, no internet, only self-hosted servers, and all shit talking must be out loud. Also shit talking must be kid safe since we're all old and have kids old enough to be competent but young enough we don't want to teach them the true art of shit talking.

  • Another round of sanctions, no lunch supervision Friday

The government walked away from the table today. The STF announced new sanctions, including withdrawing noon supervision.
