  • In the vein of houses and cars, yeah. I should get in a better habit of elaborating on ambiguous terms in the body, only haven't as I've mixed experience with people skipping over those.

  • How does one account for maintenance costs with this view? Even barring taxes, you may have to pay for upkeep either in materials or contracting out services to assist in maintenance.

  • Thanks for this info! I was unaware of this given how rarely it's mentioned.

  • How might the "Aegio" in Aegiomon be pronounced?

  • Slay the Spire is great for sure, but for this I'm asking about deckbuilders with the style of deck-vs.-deck like Magic. In other words opponents use cards as well, and you may unlock the cards they use yourself as you play.

Monster Train is close to this, but has its own spin leaning into roguelike design as well.

  • Thanks! However I was asking about single-player games without microtransactions.

  • As in put into regular use and understood in all the various ways they may come to be understood. As compared to a word that one makes up in private that only they understand and may never pass from them into use by anyone else, particularly with their personal understanding/meaning.

However this is meant as a fun question, so you may answer with your ideal conditions in mind. The question is meant to provide a starting point, not set any strict bounds or punitive conditions.

  • On further thought, adding a couple words to the already kinda long question wasn't too much. I adjusted it to better ask what I had in mind, which was what invented words would you make and have instantly adopted.

  • Thanks to you & @Brokkr@lemmy.world for your replies. Not sure why but this curiosity was lingering in mind so I thought I'd put the question out there in case there might be some really unique example of such an organism.

I guess it'd have to be a very unique environment to drive such an adaptation, which would be fascinating in itself.

  • You've understood it right! I wasn't thinking of invertebrates as I was really curious if there might be something strange in-between, but given the other replies here mentioning the same, I think invertebrates may be the closest known of currently.

  • That's what I was thinking might be the case for players, alongside the fun/new factors Jordan mentions. Thanks for the reply!

  • Could be (at least fediverse style), but not sure who/what to follow or how to filter out what I mentioned.

  • Stuff as in anything, intentionally broad there.

Non-commercial is harder to nail down, but by and large I mean not-for-profit, sort of casual hobbyist activity with zero interest in trying to turn it into a business/side-hustle. People discussing/sharing their original stuff simply for its own sake.

Not fan work, coverage of commercial works, etc. Nothing against that stuff, it's just easily found and readily available.

  • Clonezilla is a great tool, but as someone that doesn't regularly use it (albeit I probably should), I don't remember the commands, so I really appreciate Rescuezilla for its GUI.
