Is anybody else having issues with DuckDuckGo and StartPage?

yes, everyone on earth.
Bing API is down, which has killed some things.
- I thought Startpage used Google, not Bing?
  
  This definitely makes me confused. I thought their whole thing was that they were a proxy for google results??

Microsoft’s Bing API services (the source of DuckDuckGo’s search data) went down at approx 3am ET and has not yet returned to service. Bing, DuckDuckGo, CoPilot, ChatGPT and more are unable to use the Bing services so in turn are also not working or not working fully.
- Ecosia was affected too. It's Bing with trees.

  That's sad, since one would logically expect any AI to get better if it loses access to Bing search results.

  Probably because it's down. I for one am surprised they have no failover for when Bing goes down.
  
  It’s my backup search engine. I use Brave and Searx as the main search engines.

Yes I had. DuckDuckGo was crippled as Bing was down today.

startpage was fine for me
- It seemed to be out last night for me. Came up with no results for some really basic searches

I was wondering why Ecosia didn't give me any search results yesterday. Well, now I know.

Yes. It even interrupted a flashing procedure of a device of mine and almost bricked it

  Its quite embarrassing you've asked this, tbh. Obviously you've never run
  undefined

  and I think that's sad.
  
  Idk why it happened. Maybe the program uses that API to find new firmware versions. It was stuck at the beginning of the procedure

  The flashing app detected the device. The next step was downloading firmware and it was stuck on it for minutes (usually it takes a second or two). I almost ended up rebooting the device (which could absolutely brick it) but fortunately it found the firmware. Then I tested DDG to see if it was up. I don't really remember if it was but I think it was working for a few seconds

why don't they just build their own indexer and AI crawler... Brave is newer yet surpassed both of them
- yes, this is why I love Brave search! the only privacy search engine with their own indexer.
