But it's also true. This is the last release of wefwef. Tonight the app will be renamed, and all future releases will be Voyager!
Note: you don't need to do anything if you have the app installed. The app will continue to be named 'wefwef' on your homescreen until you reinstall.
So what's new for 0.17.0?
Block communities and users
It's here! You can now block users and communities! Just go to their page and tap the ellipsis in the header. Additionally, there's a new "Filters & Blocks" section to settings (applied per user)!
There's also an option to hide all NSFW content for your account!
Finally, it's now much easier to message users. Just tap on their profile and "Send Message"!
Favorite communities
Favorite communities for them to be at the top of the community quick switcher and your communities list. So much easier than scrolling to find the communities you frequent most often! Thanks @httpjamesm for this feature that's been a long time coming.
To favorite (or unfavorite), just visit the community and tap the ellipse in the header.
Nooooo, I loved wefwef (the name). Can't wait to boast to random kids in the future how I still have wefwef installed. Just hope my phone lives that long...
Great release, finally I can curate my feed better.
One thing is missing I didn’t realize before though, could you add the option to also filter whole instances?
This isn’t strictly necessary but for example the lemy.nl communities are extremely active to the point I see half a dozen posts from them in direct succession on the all feed and that’s good for them, but i don’t speak dutch. I have no use for articles and news discussion in dutch.
And since it is a bit tedious filtering every community manually, being able to filter out whole instances would be very useful.
Does anyone else have the problem where wefwef goes all black if you go into another app on your phone and you have to close it and reopen? It's very frustrating.
I had this with PWAs downloaded via Firefox Nightly and regular Firefox (on Android). Wefwef Voyager via Chrome is working perfectly fine now for me at least.
I think that's more an issue of PWAs and the underlying browser. I have 3 PWAs installed (Wefwef, Kbin and Google News) and they will all do that to me at some point, which leads me to believe it's the browser. I'm using Firefox on Android if that makes any difference.
