What do you pirate that is lesser known beyond basic media (movies, tv, games)?
What do you pirate that is lesser known beyond basic media (movies, tv, games)?
For me has been books for work and audiobooks for my iPod. Also some unraid licenses
I wish pirating subs was easier! That would be my second most if true
1 0 ReplyYeah it’s hard to find them for Asian stuff particularly

Audiobooks! I buy the books but I'm too lazy to read them.
36 1 Replylol!
8 2 ReplyWhere’s a good place to find them? I was going to go back to Usenet for lack of other options, but need to look at what’s actually getting posted.
5 0 ReplyMyanonamouse is the best place for audiobooks IMO.
6 0 ReplyAudio Books Bay (ABB) is good too.

If you buy the book but listen to it as an audiobook, wouldn't buying the audiobook in the first place be an option then?
2 0 ReplyThat'd be great, but I don't have where to buy them. Plus having them as physical books is easier to share them, since not everyone likes audiobooks.

Scientific papers

27 0 ReplyThat’s 3d printing files right? Where can you pirate them and what wouldn’t be on thingiverse?
14 1 ReplyThere's a ton of commercial/locked-behind-patreon stuff, usually around things like RPG scenery or figures and such.
Like, an immense library of shit that's not free.
16 0 ReplyDepending on your political vuews you could download open-source files for guns incase they get taken down

Why have I never thought of that...
6 0 ReplyNever had luck finding anywhere that has .stl's. Any hints on where to look?

Apps that have what I think are unfair payment structures.
No, I'm not paying a > hundred dollar subscription for your app with server-side features I didn't ask for.
16 0 ReplyGreat point! I did this with Adobe until I switched to Linux

Printer ink. I got a cheap canon printer and drilled holes in the ink cartridges so I can refill them using generic ink for 1/1000th the cost of what the printer companies charge.
16 0 ReplyCould you link how? That’s so cool
4 0 ReplySure thing, this outlines how to modify the ink carts: https://www.wikihow.com/Refill-Canon-Cartridges
And you can buy bulk printer ink for around $10 for all 3 colors+black on sites like amazon or ebay.

Boardgames.
I am still to actually print them. But I have the files.
RPG books. These I actually have them printed.
15 0 ReplyInteresting. How much do you spend to print a typical core rulebook of say, the coastal magician type?
5 0 ReplyB&w around 2-3 cents/page, depends on the amount of ink coverage.
Then binding is free where I do it, and shipping cost. Maybe 5-10€ depending number of pages. I did like a bunch of books at once to reduce shipping.

That’s really cool actually
1 0 ReplyWhere do you find those?
1 0 ReplyBoardgames I found a discord room.ñ, it's about the "boardgame engine videogame" but they post assets of real boardgames.
RPGs, there's a Telegram group with a name like this mineral.

Foliate on linux is a great ebook reader
(or KOreader on both androix linux - this setup allows you sync your page progress)
13 0 ReplyMight be controversial, but I pirate OnlyFans content (porn). I ain't payin a monthly subscription for that shit. Telegram is pretty great for that.
16 3 ReplyCould you share a bit more about how you use telegram for that purpose? I'd like to learn more. Thanks. I've never used telegram before btw....

I don't think I'd like to admit to anything. But during my research, I found large compilations of leaked passwords, sheet music for not so popular music instruments, vintage software and abandonware...
5 1 ReplyComics (though it probably falls into 'basic media'), well over 1TB at this point either way.
4 0 ReplyCan you explain pirating of unraid licenses? I have already paid for one but didn't know this was possible
3 0 ReplyThere’s a crack of it running around that tricks it into thinking you have a license. Of course idk if they also changed something nefarious.
I ran it for a while before I decided it wasn’t worth the risk and also run more Linux now
