Trans Megathread for the Week of November 11th, 2024 to November 17th, 2024
Xenia, the fox girl mascot of Linux, was first designed in 1996 by Alan Mackey. She was meant to be an alternative to Tux, the official mascot.
She had fallen into obscurity, but was noticed by a Twitter user in 2019 and was redrawn as a fox girl. But as it turned out, Xenia was originally meant to be male! The original creator, Alan, was cool with this, saying "It matches the transition of a lot of the smartest, nerdiest Linux users I know" and "And sure, you made her trans!".
So now we have a trans Linux mascot. And I think that's neat.

i don't know what your experiences of it are but my mind jumped to this immediately. apologies if i'm going in the wrong direction here. i've talked to people who've had good experiences of it, but my own experience, and that of the 2 people i've let try the supply i was prescribed but couldn't take (it's the good stuff, the kind that you're supposed to take), has been resoundingly negative. it gives me some p bad physical health issues, and it gave the others such bad mental symptoms they never touched it again.
it's a mixed bag, some people love it. but not everyone gets on well with it, including you know, an awful lot of cis women. and that's completely valid and okay.
uh well i took it for a few days and got a dramatic worsening of my joint issues. then i tried a different medication with progesterone-like effects and tolerated it better but it still led to longterm worsening of my joint issues that were so bad i had to stop that too. i think it was bad for my mood too but it was the physical effects for me that were so bad. (i have a connective tissue disorder known for being hormone sensitive)
the people i shared my original prescription with, got the negative side effects as soon as it took effect and were unable to take it for more than a couple days. i know that a lot of people get mood swings that improve over time, but i think in both cases it was just such a seriously bad effect that it wasn't likely to get better.
how long have you been on it? if there haven't been negative effects that's definitely a good thing, but if you're not getting the positive ones either then maybe it's just not something that works with your system well.
thank you
i actually typically warn people about it, because for some reason it has a high rate among trans people. the condition i mean. not like i tell people not to take it, just to watch out for the symptoms so they can make the connection if it happens with prog.
my (only) cis friend also has the condition and it gets worse every month during her cycle.
that seems v reasonable. i hope that things work out and u get the results u are looking for, whatever u end up doing with prog.
