Jesus fuck the reality distortion field is strong, it's like doublethink but without being a clever social trick to survive, it's just they're that stupid.
I used to have a boss who like to joke about firing people on his team. He was a nice guy and there was no ill intention behind the jokes, but we eventually had to sit him down and tell him that he couldn't joke about that stuff because it causes a great deal of stress to people given his position.
Another example is bomb jokes in airports. Aside from just being in poor taste, that's something that will get you arrested and probably put on a no-fly list for life because it's an extremely serious matter with no exceptions.
So, even if Trump and his people are just joking about these horrible things, it's completely unacceptable when it's entirely believable they would do this stuff and would be in a position to make it happen.
TLDR: There are just some things you don't fucking joke about.

I keep telling my folks that and that they'll end up being influenced and manipulated but they refuse because of how convenient it is. And I almost have to keep it because that's the only way they communicate right now.

The time for being reasonable and trying to convince willfully ignorant fucks is long past. You tell them they are a fucking fool. You block them on all communication channels. I told her to vote Harris and she did (she didn't even know how to fill out a ballot I had to tell her how to) but then later she said "maybe we shouldn't vote for democrats" because of the homeless shelters built near Chinese populations in NYC (which is a fair grivence, but I dont see how republicans are gonna solve it better). Abosolutely no independent thought and no critical thinking just parroting whatever the last person said.
She doesn't understand that the "homeless" or "migrants" are just dogwhistles referring to people like us who maga republicans deem inferior.

The problem is that he was likely joking. It’s a shitty joke on our end but Walsh is deliberately using people’s panic to make fun of the media and the left in general.
The point of the joke was to trigger alarms and make people write dumb articles about it. Then he can point and laugh about how his joke triggered you and also turn accusations about Project 2025 into a hyperbole that the left uses. From then on the phrase will be easily ignored by moderates as an overreaction from the left. Because in this case it is an overreaction, he’s clearly trying to scare people.
Just keep in mind that this is a common tactic they employ to take the sting out of certain terms and to keep their base unaware of the BS. It’s why the left can’t rally around phrases like the right can.
