In a trans Discord I'm in, someone called Biden "Genocide Joe" and two people were like, "He hasn't done anything genocidal, what are you talking about?" and it turned out they legitimately did not know what it was about and they had heard vaguely about Palestine and considered Israel the aggressor but had no idea what Biden's stance on it was or that the US was involved in supplying them with weapons or money.

I think it's the fact the election coverage goes on for so long. Like the UK and France etc in the news recently can call, hold an election and install a new government in a couple of months.
Most people I've met outside of the punk/commie/queer scenes around here have admitted to me they've never heard of Israel or Palestine. They know it's an election year because they want Trump in office, but otherwise have no clue what's going on.
