  • We're currently on our second playthrough where we're playing as a secret daughter of Marika who's been shunned by the Erdtree and their followers, so now we're on a revenge path against the Erdtree to reclaim our rightful place on the throne - my SO really put a lot of effort into her back story - and as part of the playthrough, we're doing all kinds of side quests and content that we haven't seen before for all the unique character interactions we've missed the first time around. The amount of steps and quests and secret items needed for each one of them is honestly so baffling and convoluted, how would any sane being ever find anything of this on their own without using any guides and not being someone like Zully or Vaati. Holy shit

    • That sounds like some fun RP. And yeah, it's unbelievable. I played for the first time completely blind, but taking notes in a notepad, and I was able to figure out more than usual in these games, but I still missed more than I found.

      • Are you used to taking notes in video games? I feel like it's kind of a relic of the past where you had to take notes because information about games was few and far between and usually reserved to magazines and stuff, so I haven't had to take notes ever. I think it could be quite rewarding if you're patient enough

        • I've done it before for a few games where I want to remember to do stuff, and I know it's not for everyone, but I do find it pretty rewarding. I've never regretted having a random notepad around to jot down something that I was thinking about.

I think the first time might have been Final Fantasy 1 on NES (played on the Wii emulator, whatever year that would've been). It deepens the experience for me and makes me pay more attention to dialogue and hints in the game.

It's already funny to go back to my notes from my blind run of Elden Ring and see my thought process.

          • I can imagine it's rewarding - sounds cool!

Maybe your notes would be worth a post here sometime? Sounds pretty cool
