Nitpick time: the sand castle would probably not be disturbed that much since no atmosphere means the plume can't stir up any wind. I guess if it's really close though.
After a bit of searching I think people generally mean gnome 3 when they say gnome and gnome 2 is now known as Mate.
I mean you're right but your expectations on political freedom are indeed unrealistic in the current order. The US isn't functioning very well as a democracy but even in countries where democracy is mostly working the options aren't all that much better.
In Sweden we don't have first past the post. I don't see any major issues with our voting system. Any party that gets at least 4% has a place in the parliament. The left still struggles immensely and seems kind of bewildered. Our alt right party just keeps growing.
This is wild speculation but I'm not even sure the Biden administration understands what people want at this point though. I see sort of the same problem in Swedish politics. Left wing politics has stagnated and doesn't understand how to win people over. Alt right is growing.
The major difference is that we don't have first past the post so even when our alt right party is second largest and the right is in government their influence is somewhat limited. They certainly get to ship their agenda but at least there are others in the room with a voice when they do.
AFAIU the Spanish civil war was lost to fascists because the opposition couldn't unite.
It's not the responsibility of any one faction to avoid infighting but it is everyone's responsibility to find common ground.
History rhymes.
Yes you need to acknowledge that your democracy is broken. Letting Trump burn the last of it won't fix it though.
Yes you should acknowledge that your democracy is broken. But letting Trump win will not fix it. Not voting for Biden will not fix it. You have to find other means to fix it. In between elections. That's how it is.
Hellblade 2 is coming.
Edit: The atmosphere in the first 10-30 minutes of Hellblade is absolutely stunning. I haven't played through it yet though. I think I'm afraid that it will be a disappointment and that the initial experience, which really is amazing, will be ruined.
The only things I've watched of these is Rogue One and Andor and I doubt the other things is up in the same class but I might be wrong.
Well it is full stack dev not most of the stack dev.
git gud .
Governments listen to people that succeed at acting in unison. Individuals can be dealt with swiftly but populations can overturn any government.
Coordinating populations is the hard part if you want revolution. Manipulating populations and their ability to coordinate is your bread and butter if you want to oppress.
Yeah encrypt it or at least put on a nsfw tag or something. Gosh. People flaunt their privates like it's Onlyfans.
Really? A Russian delegation is allowed to join? Doubt they would have anything remotely useful to contribute.
I think Black mirror did an episode on this? Don't remember the plot though.
I'm very wary of installing more extensions since I heard how many lucrative requests extension devs get from third parties for allowing them to enshittify their software.
I fear that part of the reason is that it isn't big enough yet for AstroTurf interest groups to care enough to invest into it. Although maybe AstroTurfing isn't included in the enshittification label?
For social media to work in the future I think there needs to be additional safeguards that keep enshittification at bay. But picking them will be a delicate art.
Voting might ensure that the situation might not get worse. You need to change the voting system to actually make a meaningful difference.
Edit: wtf are the downvotes for?
The problem with these rage inducing subreddits is that they seldom seem to propose or encourage any solution or alternative. So it ends up becoming a kind of circle jerk of learned helplessness.
It seems like a common internet thing. Rage bait and learned helplessness. We learn to accept that there's nothing to do because people and politicians are idiots because "look at all this stuff".
And often this aligns with advertising tech because it makes us engaged and seeking comfort of continued scrolling when we get a steady stream of anxiety injections. It's low key like an abusive relationship.
Paper runs out and can cause a mess in a busy public restroom.
