I wanted to see what the fuss was about after windows 11 came out, because I was sick of Windows intrusive UI and shady business practices.

I still use windows for some things, but now I duel boot to cinnamon and it is my daily desktop driver. I vastly prefer the clean interface and speed of Linux over windows, and I now play most of my games on it too. I was shocked when I realized that Elden Ring runs great, and looks better, on Linux while it was unplayable on windows at release.

I also installed Fedora to my surface pro after a windows update made it impossible to use without severe slowdown. I've had my surface for 6 years and it runs great on Linux.

The only downside to Linux is that, as am artist, the apps are limited. Blender is fantastic, Krita is catching up, but there is no way to use clip studio, harmony (toon boom, storyboard pro), or Zbrush (yes I can sculpt in blender but it is not quite there yet.)

They are human beings who choose to pursue hate because it's an easy choice and looking at themselves, and questioning the system that they participate in, would be too much for them. Fuck em.

He is learning the hard way that AI is terrible for concept art.

AI can only create things that are a mash up of already available ideas, but if you want to create something new and specific to a vision it with turnarounds/details no, it's not going to do it. It is incapable of making small adjustments specific to a vision.

I like to use AI when working on my art specifically as an idea and reference generator. The AI can act as a fun way to jog the brain and come up with new ideas- but I have never been able to get it to give me exactly what I'm looking for.

I used to work in an office that had Ozempic and gastric bypass patients and fuck no never going to do either after what I've seen. Some patients literally had no stomach left after their surgery, and the Ozembic patients were unable to digest food after the meds paralyzed their stomachs.

Imo you need to let his parents know. I'd want to know if I were his parent, especially his mother.

Imo, the family needs to stand together and lovingly, but firmly, not stand for his bullshit. Make it clear that there will be consequences for shit behavior and that your family is not about the hate he's spewing.

There is only so much you can do as a relative. His parents need to stand up to this bs. Have you spoken to them about it? Do they know how bad it's gotten?

I assume this kid and your family are in the Baltics right now? If that's the case all of his behavior probably feels free of consequence to him because he's not around openly LGBT people or minorities.

Imo He's doing this for negative attention and to be friends with awful people that he views as strong. I imagine that he's in with a bad crowd and he was mocked for his communist beliefs.

Had a really bad weed addiction (yes I know it's psychological but imo it was harder than quitting cigarettes)

Whenever I tried to quit I wouldn't be able to sleep for up to 3 days at a time. If I got past that I could be clean for a month or two before caving and falling back into weed usage.

Turns out I had really bad OCD and PTSD and zero serotonin (thus, no sleep). I got put on Lexapro and the obsessions were 90% better after that, and the weed usage has gone from daily to once every few months, with friends. The hard part has been adjusting, and developing, a new lifestyle and hobbies to replace the drug use. I also have Been grieving the decade I lost to addiction and trauma.

My tips: addiction is a response to something else going on. It's not laziness, it's not lack of willpower, it's not because you are a monster. It might be due to covering up pain, or because you're self medicating and don't realize it. Be kind to yourself, because the world is unnecessarily shitty to addicts.
