It's one of my favourite movies. I watched a walking tour on YouTube of the filming locations in Hope BC a few years back, it was pretty interesting with lots of fun facts. Nighthawks (1981) is also pretty gritty and has Rutger Hauer and Billy Dee Williams. A lot more recent and better gritty Stallone movie is Cop Land (1997) from James Mangold, saw it for the first time a few months ago and really enjoyed it.
Can you tell I like Stallone? Went and watched a whole bunch of his movies in a row not too long ago and they're really hit or miss.
edits to add that Billy Dee Williams was also in Nighthawks and that Cop Land is the better movie
Due to Jenner calling her own project and memecoin a ‘scam,’ $JENNER’s market capitalization rapidly plunged to $5 million as confusion ensued and Jenner issued no concrete explanation,” the complaint says. “Investor holdings began losing the majority of their value very rapidly.” But Jenner wasn’t done with $JENNER: she minted another memecoin with the same name on the Ethereum blockchain, and investors–including the plaintiffs–followed her there, too.
There's an old saying in Tennessee... I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee... that says fool me once, shame on... shame on you.
If it wasn't fair use I'm sure they would have gone after Kurzweil (popular assistive technology program designed explicitly for scanning books) a long time ago
I thought of this in the shower, then deleted it when someone in discord said duh it's Michael Jackson, and another replied Michael Jordan you dumbass ... oof ... but then while delete it got upvotes somehow so whatever lol
He killed the original Alfalfa!!
No more coffee but plenty of PRIME(tm) for all!
William Faulkner can write an exhaust pipe gag that would really make you think
There are portable washing machines that hook to a kitchen tap and drain to the sink, had one when renting a place with no laundry on-site and just hung dry everything. So much better than going to a laundromat weekly, and paid for itself too.
In Canada we already have Power Corporation (what a name), they've owned our Prime Ministers for decades

I had a friend come back from a work trip to Saskatchewan talking about how the skeevy strip club in town had the "toonie toss". I don't remember too much of the story except that they also didn't have booze
How many of you were hit with mallets last week?
The price of rakes and yard vacuums would skyrocket. City parks would be fenced off and guarded by armed militia the way natural diamond deposits are. In cartoons, those giant paper yard waste bags would be the new sack with dollar sign printed on them. Everyone would suddenly hate the Toronto Maple Leafs (oh they already do? never mind that one)
also seems ime that well designed, fun games without the pachinko-esque delivered treats of skins and xp bonuses are still worth playing just because they deliver fun just by gameplay
some examples being Goldeneye Source, Wreckfest, Tetris 99, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Battle.bit Remastered
felt bad to give up on fall guys but the mobile integration ruined an already dying platform
Yeah, I have a reluctance to post news articles here because on the other site I've had so many news posts removed by mods for 'not adding to the discussion', or 'this has already been discussed to death', whenever there was an actual update to news stories. Either that, or I felt attacked in the comments for not providing an editorial opinion in the comments of whatever I posted.
There's probably an internal dissonance happening between disagreeing with those removals and living through it here in a more open environment that's really irritating me. Either way it's probably a me problem, they usually are lol.
Rented this a few times from Blockbuster and played it at the demo that was always set up at Costco, it was a really solid system with actual potential. Blockbuster had a program back in the day where for $40 or something like that you could rent a system with 2 controllers and 2 games for 7 days. Did the same with the Sega Saturn with similar feelings, eventually ended up owning a N64 and that was not a disappointment in the end.
The ballistic hard shell cases with foam inserts Blockbuster rented out consoles in were seriously cool I wonder if any exist still
Oh yeah we had those too. I totally forgot about A&E, those tapes were around for sure. And a lot of stuff from the National Film Board, I think the schools in Canada got that stuff for free or something.
In class it was always
- Shrek
- Shrek 2
- Remember the Titans
- Jurassic Park
- Any Rando Jim Carrey Movie
Although in grade 9 law class we got to watch Heat, Dirty Harry and My Cousin Vinny, that teacher was cool
first it said 'all' when I meant 'new' and everyone saw it at least we can edit posts here fml
A Kingston, Ont., doctor celebrated for organizing drive-thru vaccination clinics that helped thousands get shots at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic is now being ordered to pay back more than $600,000 in fees for those same services.
Dr. Elaine Ma said she organized 45 mass vaccination clinics that administered roughly 35,000 doses between April 2021 and the following February.
Her work was recognized by the Ontario College of Family Physicians, which granted her its Award of Excellence in 2021, in part pointing to Ma's role in boosting local vaccination rates.
About a year later, the doctor said she received notice from the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) seeking to recoup the money she had billed for the shots — approximately $600,000, plus around $35,000 in interest.
