I'm watching the "no laugh track" version of MASH and finding it much more enjoyable.
Those vets still have some heroics in em
They are kind of uncomfortable on your elbows where you're holding the barbell. But I put a little bit of pipe insulation on there and it no trouble. It's a little bit of a wider stance and I find it simpler technique wise. Basically just sitting down and standing up, overall I feel it's a little simpler than back squats. Hopefully they work out for you
I switched to zerchers, for me they seem to work perfectly. I can get all the way down without any struggle and my back feels amazing. I imagine front squats would be very similar. My 1rm was about 340lbs for back squat and now for zerchers its 300, but it took a few months to build up to it
Back squats are a young person's game hah, I'm curious to hear what you think about the belt squat machine. I've never tried one but bells of steel sells a residential belt squat that looks pretty sweet..
Seems like a setup
Absolutely, those are important to most lifters outside of powerlifting maybe. Many of the recommended strength programs include conditioning and mobility work as well as lifting.
5/3/1 prescribes jumps/throws and 3/4 days of conditioning for most templates. GZCL highly recommends it for his programs, and Tactical barbell also has a big focus on conditioning and strength endurance since its marketed towards folks that need to carry heavy stuff at work (military, firefighters etc)
There is a whole album for Dwarf fortress that is just incredibly atmospheric guitar, give it a listen. Personal favorites: Strike the Earth and Vile Force of Darkness. They both slap so hard
Tactical Barbell Zulu/HT W1D2
- Deadlift 4 x 5 @ 265lbs
- Bench press 3 x 10 @ 165lbs
- Dip 3 x 12 @ 210lbs bw
- Dumbbell curl 3 x 12 @ 35lbs
- Back extension 3 x 12 @ 25lbs
Initially I had planned to do more pull ups but I was still feeling a bit toasted from yesterday, so I swapped in some curls. I think I'll leave them in for the duration of the program, as I've never done curls in 2.5 years of lifting!
Very glad Carney is behind the wheel during this time of southern stupidity
After humming and hawing about it ever since the Reddit API migration, I decided that if I wanted to see it on Lemmy I really should make it so.
One of the things that I missed the most from Reddit was the strength training subs, as they were great motivation to stay consistent, and the occasional program parties were a lot of fun. A bunch of folks trying to get through super squats and drinking a gallon of whole milk per day made for some pretty interesting workout reports.
I have not traditionally been a community builder in the past, but I believe there is big a gap in the Fediverse where strength training should be.
Its just getting off the ground so too early to say how its going. But I have picked up a lot of valuable info from this sub and the others on the sidebar, thanks for that
Tactical Barbell Zulu/HT W1D1

- Zercher squat 3 x 10 @ 190lbs
- Pull up 3 x 12 @ 210lbs bw
- Dumbell row 3 x 12 @ 45lbs
- Hanging leg raises 3 x 12
This is the first week of a new routine for me. I decided the spring cut is cancelled and the spring bulk is on. The 10 rep squats were a bit of a struggle for me and I was pretty gassed out for the remainder of the workout, I think due to poor sleep last night? Will see how it goes for the rest of the week.
