Whats the best budget friendly way to transfer vhs tapes
  • I just want to second the GV-USB2, it's a nifty little device. I've used it to back up multiple home videos from VHS. The only thing is (at least this was the case when I bought my GV-USB2) all the instructions to activate it are in Chinese, you have to find a tutorial online if you can't read Chinese. But there's plenty of resources for you to take advantage of. Once you have it set up it's essentially plug and play.

  • When's the last time you felt seen, heard, and understood?
  • I felt the warmth of my cat cuddling next to me when I woke up this morning.

I saw the light of the moon shining into my bedroom.

I heard the buzz of traffic humming through my window.

I understood that I had to set my fantasy football lineup because I forgot to last night.

  • What is your favorite passive agressive insult to send in chat?
  • That's...odd.

But then again smart phones weren't a thing when I was in school so most of this kinda stuff seems odd to me. I'm with the other guy, I'm glad I never had to deal with any nonsense resembling this.

  • I’ve been somewhat of a fuck up in life, now doing better but still struggle with things. More details below.
  • My comment was supposed to be kind of wink wink tongue in cheek in tone, I'm sure that didn't come across.

I'm sorry for poking at fresh wounds. I lost my best friend too, many years ago. He was only 21, but there's no such thing as "old enough" because life is too short. And there's not enough time in this life to truly move on from something like that. There's nothing else I can say, I just hope you're doing well bud

  • If you could bring back a dead band/musician which one/who would it be?
  • Jeff Buckley, no question. He released arguably the best album of the 90s (Grace) then went and fucking drowned. Only 30 years old. He coulda been one of the best to ever do it, but we're left wondering.

  • Which book should I read?
  • I agree that Meryl Streep was absolutely perfect, as she always is. I was speaking on the casting for the TV show. I didn't hate her or anything I just thought she coulda been better

  • Which book should I read?
  • The casting for the movie was incredible, they really set themselves up for a great trilogy and it's a shame there was only one movie. The show is a magnificent achievement in tone and design but some of the casting choices left a bit to be desired. Off the top of my head I wasn't too fond of Sir, Josephine, or Nero. But gotta give them some credit, Jacques and Esme in particular were perfect imo. I also loved Jerome but I have the biggest crush on Tony Hale so I'm probably coming at that one with a bias 😂

  • Which book should I read?
  • Oh yeah, books first then the Netflix series afterwards. I think the show does a lot to expand the world of the books while not compromising its overall story and message. But you gotta read the books first.

  • Which book should I read?
  • The Tetris Effect by Dan Ackerman is a lot of fun, a pretty breezy read, and is fairly unbelievable for how true the story is. It involves (in varying amounts) programming, science, and DIY, mostly from an early-80s perspective (since a lot of it is about the development of the game), plus some corporate espionage and Soviet meddling.

  • Best Buy to End DVD, Blu-ray Disc Sales
  • Depends on age I think. All my 40+ year old friends have large DVD collections, as well as some in their 30s. I could see people younger than 30 not giving a shit about physical media. Personally I would go physical over digital.

  • How do you deal with being broke?

I'm in my 30s so I should be used to this by now, but this shit is getting so stressful guys. I have no savings, my checking account is drained every month with rent, and if there's ever a serious emergency I have no safety net, I'm legitimately fucked. I'm one unplanned expense away from absolute ruin. Those in the same boat as me, how do you deal with this?
