  • The CEO at my last place used to forget his passwords at least once a week, would write them on Post-It notes on his desk (and lose them by day's end).

We had a dashboard that showed failed security and he was many, many times worse than the rest of the business combined. That man cost the business more in IT time than anyone.

This was a bank. Granted, a small lending-only bank but still, I would never get a mortgage or loan with these people.

They should have just put a Yubikey on his keys. He never lost those.

  • Child rapist Steven van de Velde weeps in first interview since Olympics outrage
  • Yes, child rapists should be ostracised forever. As adults, we have a responsibility to protect the children in our communities. Sorry if this is hard for you to understand but the safety of innocent children is infinitely more important than the poor delicate feelings of a child rapist. If they don't want to suffer the consequences of their actions, then they shouldn't do the bad thing.

Also, he didn't even serve the full sentence given by the court that sentenced him. So no, he did not serve his punishment. That's a load of shite. His government extradited him and let him off easy. And then they effectively spat on the whole punishment again by letting him represent his country anyway.

It doesn't matter how long ago it was. The harm was still real. And it screams "we care more about perpetrators' rights than victims." Or maybe they don't care because the victim wasn't Dutch. I don't know.

I do however agree that they shouldn't go after his family. He committed the crime, not them. Even if I am disgusted by the very idea of anyone willing to sleep with a nonce. Still not my business.

  • Windermere 'unfit for bathing' as sewage blamed for algae breaching safe limit
  • Bodies of water, such as the lake in question and the sea, are referred to as bathing waters. If you're ever on an English beach and you want to know if that particular stretch is clean enough to go in the water, you check the bathing water profile for where you are. https://environment.data.gov.uk/bwq/

In this context, bathing is used to mean swimming. For example, a public pool is referred to as the swimming baths. It's just British English.

  • As someone in their catchment area: Fuck United Utilities. They need to be prosecuted (again). There was a cryptosporidium scare in 2015 affecting over half a million people because farmland runoff got into the water supply. They just aren't fit for the job and frankly a complete overhaul is needed.

  • The worst pick-up line I've ever gotten
  • How'd you get access to that? It seems to be a major pain in the backside (at least here in the UK as a person afab) getting anyone to actually take NBs seriously in terms of the medical side of things.

  • No common rube
  • As a former IT help desk person, I can confirm that we do in fact love it when people give us good info. People who write screen broke shouldn't be working with technology more advanced than a shovel

  • Anon goes to the doctor
  • I know a guy who took T for gains at one point in his life. He says it felt great at the time, he had more energy and his gains were amazing but now he doesn't naturally produce enough testosterone of his own and it's fucking his joints up in old age. His bone density is closer to that of a woman in his age group and one of his hands is essentially disintegrating.

    His words, not mine.

  • Category 5 Titty Rule
  • Same. People always assume I'm a smaller clothing size than I actually am because of this. A (new, Karen) colleague recently asked if I'm on Ozempic because of my face. Like no it's not Ozempic face, it's my face.
