  • it chips away at the foundations of historical accuracy.

I disagree. The South was also the United States. To argue otherwise is to agree that their declarations of secession were legally valid and rather than being states in revolt needing pacification, the South was a sovereign nation which the Union engaged in a war of subjugation.

Calling them "the Confederacy" and "the Union" continually reinforces that narrative. Irrespective of what they called themselves then (or still call themselves now) we should reframe 1861-1865 as the United States' federal government battling state governments in open rebellion.

  • Given that Boromir died after three arrows, and Faramir lived after two, we can safely conclude that it would have taken at least three arrows to kill him.

Therefore, Faramir is at minimum as tanky as Boromir.

  • No, CO doesn't. That's why it's so dangerous.

The human body only has receptors for a build-up of CO2 in our bodies. We can't tell if we have a lack of oxygen, so any odorless gas in large enough quantities will kill you without you knowing. Hypoxia looks the same no matter what the cause is.

  • Not one single judge in this country would sign off on this.

States don't have the obligation to help enforce federal laws, but they also don't have the right to hinder the feds from enforcing their own laws. That's what the whole deal with "sanctuary cities" was all about- telling the feds that those cities weren't going to spend one dime of their budgets to help arrest immigrants, but they couldn't legally stop ICE from showing up and doing it themselves.

  • Because Tesla is the most overvalued stock, by a long shot.

Just looking at the stock price, they're worth more than the other three American brands combined. Ford, GM, and RAM sell more half-ton pickups than all of Tesla models. That's absolutely nuts!

You want to know what a cult looks like? Tesla's sales are down in every segment and people are protesting outside dealerships every week. They announced their profits are down 71% at their Q1 shareholders meeting. The only reason they had any profits was because of government subsidies.

And their stock has only gone up since that meeting.

So you tell me- why hasn't Tesla's stock gone down?

  • So you will believe a rumour based on nothing

Says Tesla. You're a fool if someone saying "nuh uh!" is good enough for you. Especially when its the reputation of the WSJ vs. the reputation of Tesla.

won't believe the board of directors denying said rumour unless they sue?

Tell me you know absolute dick-all about corporations, without telling me you know dick-all about corporations.

I'll give you a hint: what do you think would happen to the stock price of literally any company if the board confirmed they were ousting the CEO before the CEO was out? My dude, your native Australia has a better chance of eliminating every single venomous critter on that island than any corporate board admitting that. And that goes double for the single most overvalued stock on the planet, whose price is driven solely by the hype man's promises.

So yes. If and when Tesla sues the WSJ, and wins that case, then I'll believe they were right. Until then, I'm going to treat them like the lying Nazi-enabling shit car company they are.

  • Yeah, I don't think the lack of a new Model Y was the reason TSLA sales are crashing...

Tesla shareholders were holding on to the theory that the decline was almost entirely attributable to the Model Y changeover.

The automaker updated the design and some features of the Model Y, its best-selling car, limiting availability as it updated production lines in the first quarter.

It must indeed have had an impact and Tesla also blamed the Model Y changeover for lower deliveries in Q1 during its earnings call last week.

However, it also stated that production is now back to normal in April, and yet, Tesla’s sales continue to decline in Europe.

Within the 5 European markets that report car registrations daily, Tesla is not only tracking down about 50% from the same period in 2024 (Q2 2024), but it is also tracking behind its terrible Q1 2025 despite having the new Model Y

Fucking lol, that's some Grade-A hopium right there.

  • Government communications must be archived.

The head of each Federal agency shall make and preserve records containing adequate and proper documentation of the organization, functions, policies, decisions, procedures, and essential transactions of the agency and designed to furnish the information necessary to protect the legal and financial rights of the Government and of persons directly affected by the agency’s activities. 44 U.S. Code § 3101.

By using Signal, they're intentionally breaking the law since Signal doesn't retain communications. The only conclusion that can be drawn from this is they don't want a record so they can't be held accountable in the future.

If republicans control both houses, why don’t they approve the app or change the law?

The simple answer is that this wouldn't pass the Senate, because the filibuster still exists (for now) and you need 2/3s vote to end debate and hold a vote (called cloture). It's unlikely you'd get the 15 or so Dems needed for this to happen.

The complicated answer is that Congress has been perfectly happy ceding more and more of its authority to the Presidency for a long time now. When you're elected for a two-year term (as Representatives are) but spend 1+ year campaigning (because seriously, fuck US elections) you don't want to do anything that even the short-term-memories of American voters might remember. So they're perfectly happy letting the President take the blame for anything if it's their party in the White House, or obstructing him if it's not.
