When you have a nice setup in programming (compiler, database, diverse docs, shells etc), you don't want to shut all that down. If you can, good for you!
Maybe hardware requirements have been met nowadays with even basic hardware (gaming excepted), I have a quad core linux and my SO has an old quad core mac, no real need to upgrade those. My brand new thinkpad for work is running windows, well not actually running, merely walking IMO, everything has to be scanned and uploaded, there are moments the whole PC freezes up for 30-40 seconds to check if you should be able to launch that same app again ...

Yeah french presidents have been able to get elected in those "best of two" presidential elections (you vote twice, the second round is the top two from the first, so very easy to manipulate) by helping the far right getting into the second place (started with Chirac or even earlier) so you only have one reasonable choice (Democracy vs not).
People got fed up with it, got numb to it, and also the far right have become more of a populistic party too (on the outside at least).
It doesn't help Macron seems to believe he's some sort of rightful heir after those shenanigans too and just brutally impose what he wants without taking into account what the people want (there have been massive strikes and protests, even by french standards, to absolutely no avail).
Sigh.

I mean dude wrote a book about exponential progress (it works well in computers IMO) and tried to predict a lot of stuff. I read that lots of his predictions was "sort of" correct too?

I have a Lemmy server up and running for some maybe 10 months, and all was nice and good until I upgraded to 0.19.1, .2 .3 backtracking to .2, again to .3.
Everything seemed to start federating again, but with a twist; for example I had to post on eurogeaphicnovels@lemm.ee to jolt my server into communication with them for example.
Seemed okay, but now it's back again (I do not check out every community I'm connected to every week or more), and posting doesn't do anything on for example artshare@lemmy.world. My post is there but I only see one answer out of two and I have like +1 on my server and more when I use this account checking out (this account is not on my server).
Note: I recently had a stupidly unlucky fiber cut for like 6 days (miss management, weekend, ...) so the server was offline for almost a week.
I tried other "navigators" than Jerboa and it's not Jerbias fault as it's the same on say Voyager.
I obviously tried reloading, restarting, posting, ...
Is there a way saving my server? Like an sql statement bringing all "dead" federation links up again as new? Maybe it's just me who doesn't make my server chat enough so some communities are flagged dead (even if I'm subscribed to them)?
Any help greatly appreciated!
Ps. Can show screens of it if needed (but it's like yeah, mindoki server 2 votes, others more).
