It was a failure because it used GDrive and ran into quotas. Once enough people got on the shop and started downloading, everything got rate-limited and unusable.

I agree, Sourceshop isn't very reliable right now from what I hear due to the extremely restrictive GDrive quotas. LiberaShop doesn't seem to have these issues.

I saw that, yup. Hopefully it's just that one post.
Convenience. Tinfoil shops provide the convenience level of the normal eShop. You just open Tinfoil, select the game, and Tinfoil will download and install the game directly from the shop. You don't need to navigate any websites, copy links, or bypass url shorteners.
Good job on the list and guilded links!
To set up Source Shop, join the GG server, complete the verification, then go in the #information channel and click on the pinned message. Click the checkmark to react, and you will get the Tinfoil addresses needed for the shop.
That makes no sense, Tinfoil doesn't install games differently. You should definitely be able to dump games off the switch using DBI. Anyway, test the files you dumped with NSC_Builder to confirm they can be decrypted fine and have intact signatures.
https://github.com/julesontheroad/NSC_BUILDER
Simply download the app, extract to your PC. Copy the prod.keys in /switch on your SD to NSC_Builder's ztools folder. Rename prod.keys
to keys.txt
in the ztools folder. Run NSCB.exe, then select 1 for individual processing, and drag on your nsp. Then 1 to start processing, 8 to verify files, and select 3 for full Integrity+Sig1+Hash verification. That way you can confirm that your dump is intact and functional.
Anyway, not sure about the store since I don't currently run any Tinfoil Shops myself.
When you dump the game, you will have a base, update, and DLCs.
For example:
Mario Kart 8(v0)(base).nsp
Mario Kart 8(v65536)(update).nsp
Mario Kart 8(v65536)(dlc).nsp
Then you can host those files on the shop, and any shop users will be able to grab the base, updates, and any dlc.
If you play with others, I would take care to keep HOS and AMS up to date to prevent annoyances like this.
Also, on emummc you don't know when a game gets an update due to no Nintendo servers. To check for updates on emummc, you can connect to WiFi (make sure dnsmitm is setup), then open DBI, and run the update checker tool. It will list any available newer versions for games/apps you have installed on your system.
You can dump the games on your switch by using DBI: https://rentry.org/DumpingTitles
Then you can host the dumped nsps as a Tinfoil shop using OwnFoil.
The time of YouTube may finally be coming to a close.
Yes, and Reddit is dead. This is delusional, simply not happening. YouTube is huge and a self hosted or federated solution won't come even close. Lemmy instances had issues with user overload, and this is a Reddit clone. What do you think will happen with videos?
I agree. I've stopped pirating games on PC as well because the risk is simply no longer worth it. I can afford games and can pay for the ones I need on PC. They're also not as overpriced as console games.
Revolution Shop seems to simply be renamed Unpacked Shop. I expect it to be Pro only.
PixelShop looks like it may come back, but no ETA yet it seems.

Glad to hear :)
This is quite concerning. Hopefully the adblocker extension devs are able to bypass this. I expect a cat and mouse game eventually.
The last sentence suggests that, in some cases, pirates can get content sooner than their paying counterparts. This availability issue is often seen as a main driver of piracy. While improvements can be made on the supply side, the course urges teens to postpone their needs instead.
Really? Who would've guessed that piracy is a service problem? How about you improve your shit so people don't feel inclined to pirate it. Who's gonna pay for a shittier experience?
If you want to keep all games that you have installed, you will need to copy over all the files to the new card. Also, if you have an emummc on your old card, you will need to make an emummc backup and restore it: https://rentry.org/EmuNANDNewSDcard
Those are nice, especially on OLED models. I plan on buying an OLED someday and modchipping it someday. Currently I just run unpatched switches.
I'll take a look at those, haven't heard of them before.
I still have too many good visual novels left to play to make a claim like that!
I agree lol. I can never give a good answer when people ask for my favorite VN, because there are many I like and many I haven't played.
