Solid time!!!
!All good! As far as I know, "dry" has a definition of meaning "non-alcoholic". For example, in "Dry January", where people abstain from alcohol, and a "dry bar", which you sometimes see advertised at events to let people know that there will only be non-alcoholic drinks served. I'm not 100% on the origin, I've seen some reference prohibition in the US where towns and states were labeled "dry" if alcohol was outlawed, but I'm sure something predates it if I dug further! I wonder if this is a North Americanism as well..!<
Glad to hear you managed to get through it!
And absolutely! It's not terribly active, but I'm slowly starting to post more and more in there so I'd be happy to have you. I'll DM a link!
I went with "Term for a letter or character in ancient Germanic alphabets" - hopefully that removes the suggestion of specific letters!
I'm not unfamiliar with this reaction 😅
I'm open to the edit! Will adjust shortly!
Sub 2!! Excellently done!!
No, that absolutely needs adjusting - you're right! Hoping to secure some more development time for it soon. Glad you managed to get through it despite the hurdles!
Nice time! Appreciate that reassurance :)
Yes, mobile definitely needs some work! Hoping to secure some more development time for it soon, and that's high on the list
Thanks for giving desktop a try after!!
I'm being a little cheeky here, mostly because it was just May the 4th, but the word in the spoiler is actually a common misquote of the line. The real line in the movie uses the two-letter answer in the grid!
Glad to hear! I think giving 6 letters for anagram in the larger puzzles feels like a welcomed change, so I'll keep that moving forward!
The grid is completely correct! The issue you're hitting is that there is another part to the puzzle. You'll have to forgive it being in the early stages at the moment, because this is not clear at all. After you solve the grid, you click on the pencil icon at the bottom to move to the unscramble part - where you take all the letters in the completed grid to solve the final word or phrase!
Cheers, Semisimian!
In case you missed it, a mini reminder that the title is a clue to the phrase, and an alternate title could be: A Christmas present in July
:)
I shared with some colleagues today and they were all between 3-3:30 so a very good time indeed!
Cheers, Skull! Those are all things I'd love to nail for every single puzzle :)
That's the way it goes sometimes! I did also give the placement of 6 letters in the scramble instead of the usual 4 so that could have contributed to the difficulty balance between the sections!
Also, you're completely correct about the social sharing from your previous comment - it's on the list to do! After the mobile experience is improved, I'll begin focusing on getting the puzzles out there more and a way to share scores is a big part of that!
And I was... not kind with the title...
Hey Spiral! Yes, the title is meant to be more of a confirmation for you when you solve the anagram, and provide loose avenues to explore, but is isn't intended to be as helpful as a typically crossword clue for sure. This is a tricky one to start with because I went a bit more obscure than usual to test some waters and see how it would be received, others do tend to be a bit kinder!
Still a good Wednesday time! I was pleased with today's title.
I suspect this coming Friday's puzzle will make most people groan so if you tackle that one don't worry about missing anything obvious, but bring some tomatoes to throw at me..
That's a very solid time for a Wednesday puzzle!! Glad the puns are appreciated because there's going to be a lot of them.. :)
