Someone do a FOIA request on Hexbear.net
  • That’s awesome! Any chance we could get the FOIPA request number to keep track of the request? Or would that release your redacted info as well?

  • What opinions about the tech industry do you feel comfortable expressing here, but not in public/at work?
  • I’ve introduced my coworkers to the concept of the “copilot pause” where you stop typing and your brain turns off while you wait for copilot to make a suggestion. Several of them can’t unsee it now and have stopped using copilot.

  • What opinions about the tech industry do you feel comfortable expressing here, but not in public/at work?
  • I’m personally very conflicted between my love of computers and the seeming necessity of conflict minerals in their construction. How much coltan is dug up every year just to be shoved into an IoT device whose company will be defunct in six months, effectively bricking the thing? Even if the mining practices were made humane, they wouldn’t be sustainable. My coworkers are very cool for tech workers. Vague anticapitalist sentiments. Hate Elon. But I don’t think they’re ready for this conversation.

  • This community has been very cool about spelling, grammar, and typos

  • We love our burgerlander healthcare, don’t we folks?
  • He’s an optomologist and also essentially a healthcare-focused comedian and communicator. So it makes sense that he has issues that are super niche that he thinks are immediately actionable and would improve people’s conditions.

  • Love Glaucomflecken. Wish he wasn’t so lib about luigi-dance but I understand why he is. He’s a total policy wonk when it comes to healthcare.

  • Can Lemmy treat a crosspost like a boost? (merge threads?)
  • I think this would be simple ActivityPub-wise, but would be more complicated in terms of moderation and would involve some non-arbitrary decisions.

What is your most controversial opinion/belief?
  • Maybe I’ve just not read the “correct” stuff, but I’ve largely found fascist propaganda to be incoherent and a waste of time.

  • I must have just lucked out with my hardware or something. I’ve never had a problem and everything just works. Much better experience than installing and running Windows. I also run a Mac with OSX too though.

What is your most controversial opinion/belief?
  • Children do this experimentation naturally but are shamed out of it and railroaded into their sex assignment even though you’d get the same result for 90% of kids by just letting it run its course. The fact that there are adults who haven’t experimented with their gender before is a sign of major societal repression.

  • Ben Shapiro finds his calling as a musical theater critic [CW: direct link to Ben’s channel, Taylor Swift getting pushed under a car at 5:50]

He starts off the review complaining about the woke ideology of Wicked but it’s super clear that he’s also a massive Wicked fanboy. He’s apparently just into musical theater in a big way.

fuck incels to hell CW: mentions of misogyny
  • I think a lot of people hear incel and think “socially awkward young man” and relate to them. Those people need to realize that incel is more than just the sob story narrative that incels paint about the world. Their ideological is fundamentally reactionary and misogynistic.

  • What would you say to Marx if he was alive today?
  • I would slay zombie Marx, whose soul still lies in the celestial plane while his body rots and yet moves unbidden by nature, in the name of the great Lathander
