  • Looks like they use Roundcube for the email client and Nextcloud for the storage part, with calendar, contacts etc.

  • They should post their videos on both platforms.

  • Disclaimer: I had a rough beginning with PeerTube. The first instance I joined - that shall not be named - was filled with pirated content proudly displayed on its “Discover” page. I found PeerTube channels that boasted having “full films”. This included independent documentaries – which I personally found a little heartbreaking from the POV of an indie filmmaker.

The “Discover” page is generated automatically and randomly. It shows videos from all federated PeerTube servers. You can’t select which videos show up there.

  • Just use the direct link and Lemmy will embed the video.

  • I'd suggest taking a look at !peertube@lemmy.wtf and the pinned post about channels to watch. Sepia search should be finding content from among about a 1000 instances. If not working, you can try the search at PeerTube.wtf. It uses the same search index as Sepia.

  • Dunno if I’m too late, but here goes. My question is about federation between instances.

On PeerTube an instance follows another instance and then federates every channel and videos available.

On Lemmy, the user can follow a specific community and then that community will federate with the users instance.

How about being able to, either as the instance itself or a user, to follow an entire instance and have it federate everything?

An example. I have a user on Lemmy.wtf, but I am also very interested in the communities at Feddit.dk. I never know when new communities have been created on Feddit.dk, unless I go directly to Feddit.dk and look. If I could subscribe my instance to Feddit.dk, then all future communities would be visible to me automatically.

If something like that isn’t possible, then what about being able to browse other instance’s communities from my own instance?

  • You need to go to Jutland in Denmark for tasty drinking water.

  • This looks very awesome. So it also functions as a redundant wiki?

Wikipedia should use it. Then others can create their own wikis, which keep a version of articles of Wikipedia.

  • Are you talking about Elon or the actual company? Because I’m not sure what Tesla revealed to the world, that they were hiding from us?

The Cybertruck has always been a stupid car though imho. It’s not even legal in Europe lol

Companies make stupid shit all the time. That doesn’t mean they can’t also make good shit. But another stupid thing Tesla has done lately is removing the sticks at the steering wheel. I mean wtf are they smoking?

  • https://cider.sh/ is an Apple Music client for Linux.

  • There’s at least 3-4 streamers I know about, that stream video gaming on PeerTube. They usually do multiple streams. Owncast, PeerTube and Twitch fx.

  • PeerTube doesn’t use WebTorrent for live streams. It uses HLS with P2P (WebRTC).

  • They say it’s free to use during beta, so that’s probably why there’s no price for it yet.

  • What about clothes?

  • It’s initially not very expensive to run, but as it grows you’ll have to pay more and more for storage.

Videos not loading could be a client issue, low bandwidth from client or server, misconfiguration on the server etc.

A reload usually fixes this, unless the server is actually down.
