- Thoughts on the new spear skills and upcoming beta event
Hey Folks, I just want to know what your thoughts are about the new spear skills, which Anet streamed on friday.
I have mixed feelings about the skills and desinges they showed. To be fair some classes are getting unique effects and a new type of gameplay but I think some skills seem to be overtuned in terms of competitve gameplay not to mention the graphic effects some skills have. I´m curious what the beta-event might feel like. Maybe the new skills will be balanced or getting balanced later on (most likely after the beta). For me as an Ele-Main I like the skills I got but I can understand the discomfort for people playing their class not getting the skills or playstyles they wanted.
What do you think about the new skills? Do you like their desing and gameplay? And are you satisfied with the skills your mainclass will get?

A brief retrospective on the development of our last expansion.
- Do you guys actually move aroung your ascended gear to play your alts?
Seems like too much work to me, so I started getting duplicate pieces just to save the hassle, but a few guildies said I was crazy.
- The Original Guild Wars 2 soundtrack, by Jeremy Soule
The first time I saw the original trailer for Guild Wars 2, I knew I had to play the game, but I also knew that I had to get the soundtrack as well. One of the best things about the original GW2 is its soundtrack and Jeremy Soule overdid himself, once again.
It wasn't easy getting my hands on the soundtrack though. Back then, all the music composed by Jeremy Soule was sold by DirectSong, which had some uhm issues :D
It took them about 1 year to ship me the soundtrack, but before that I even managed to email Jeremy Soule himself, "complaining" about not getting the soundtrack I ordered. I didn't expect a reply at all, but he actually did reply. He basically just said that DirectSong had issues with producing the soundtracks, but I just had to be patient. Turns out he was right. I just had to be patient 😅
I remember there being accusations of DirectSong being scammers, with people not realizing that Jeremy Soule himself founded Directsong 😂
- How to ease up the return to GW2
I thought I'd try GW2 after years of not playing (last I played was PoE era, bounced off fully before Icebrood saga) and finally managed to get into it!
I used to live and breath this game and while I was not what you'd call "hardcore" player, I knew about everything going on. Now I'm totally in the black which is weird. I try not to get it to me, I just play through the Icebrood saga story now and try my best not to open inventory and achievement tabs etc to not get discouraged. GW2 was always a bit convoluted, but with so much added in the meantime, it's much.
How do you deal with this? What would be your recommendations for me to "ease into it"? What should I engage after getting my groove back in the story? How to dip my toes slowly into buildcrafting? What new systems should I check out?
Bonus question: would you expect the xpacs to go on sale anytime soon? Next one should be around the corner by now, no?

This isn't the first GW3 rumor...and likely won't be the last.
- Guild Wars 3 Confirmed
Just stumbled across this in my travels.
Obviously this isn't "confirmed" as in "it's definitely coming out and here's a release date", but rather, simply confirmation that time and effort are being spent on it.
We also got confirmation that expansions are planned for the next two years, so even at the earliest, GW3 would likely be a 2027 thing, possibly with the second expansion in the current pipeline serving as a sort of link/segue.
Shifting gears for a moment, though...while there's a lot of room to steer the current story over 2 more expansions, I'm not sure there's much room left in the current lore for much of any real significant game. Maybe GW3 sees a prequel game? Maybe we actually participate in...you know...the Guild Wars?
- So, has the wait been worth it to you?
This update feels a bit smaller than I expected, but it's been fun for me. Don't know how long I'll keep playing before moving to other games again though.
- Improving my computer for GW2
Hello there, GW2 players!
So, lately I've been playing WvW with a friend, and when it comes to a zerg, my computer just stops try to render the game and the FPS drops even reach to 0. I know it's a common problem, but hear me out.
The same friend of mine has a nVidia GTX 1650, an old GPU. I run on a AMD RX 6650 XT. When it comes to WvW, he sais he doesn't suffer from freezes or FPS drop. He also runs on a i5 (don't know the model).
I've been thinking on upgrading my setup, specially the CPU (I have a Ryzen 5 3600), and, as far as I know, GW2 tends to need better single-core performance (even with the engine upgrade). I've been also thinking on selling this GPU and buy a better AMD GPU.
Worth mentioning: I have 16GB of RAM and a SSD, where the game (among other stuff) is installed.
And this is not only on WvW. Sometimes, on Lion's Arch, the FPS drop happens too.
Did someone happen to have the same problems?
- How long would it take to beat the core game, just the pve side?
I'm curious how long it would take a NEW player to beat the core game? If they had access to the wiki and when needed YouTube but didn't have someone standing next to them telling them what to do. In other words they try the jumping puzzle or what ever they were trying to do a few times and if they failed, then go look it up. How long do you think it would take in hours?
And I mean the main story and all achievements for pve.

- Launching the Steam and original Version with different shortcuts.
I own 2 copies of the game (1 via Steam and 1 via the standalone Launcher).
I installed the Steam version and until now, used the "-provider Portal" Steam Launch option to switch between them. With Lunar new Year approaching I decided that, typing 2 words to change Versions, is too much of a hassle and looked for an easier solution.
Turns out, it's really simple: By adding the GW2.exe, from the Steam installation, as a "Non-Steam Game" you are able to create differnt Shortcuts, with differnt Launch options, for the same Game.

Zerglings go splat. No, seriously. I think I lost a year of my life wheezing my lungs out, I haven't seen anything that hilarious in like a year.
- A labour of love
Many events have a bit of a grace period once the last item is being given to the NPC, so others can get rid of their items and get participation. Many events also have a timer, so if you hand in the last item 15 seconds before the event ends and the NPC gives it another 60 seconds of grace period, the event fails.
Just joking, it doesn't fail. That would be an immensily inept way to design a game. All items being handed in has priority, the event checks for that before declaring fail or success state.
Except in current content. The beacon part of the Nayos meta, for example.
- Cleaning my overstuffed inventory
I'm trying to get back into GW2, in large part because it's one of the few MMOs I've liked that actually works well under Linux.
For a frame of reference, my main was a Nord Necromancer with ~33 mastery points, and the three easier-to-acquire mounts. I completed the main story and HoT, and sort of drifted out in the middle of PoF for like two years. Just bought the EoD expansion while it's on sale.
I've got one 20-slot bag and four 15-slots, and maybe 1-2 slots free at any given time. I suspect my problem is less "bag space" per se, and more a hoarding tendency-- crafting items, "turn it into some NPC for a quest" items, seasonal tonics and exchange items. Hell, I still have the Level 80 token that came with the original purchase, because I figured if I skipped to 80, I'd miss the Personal Story.
Is there a good rundown for discard/sell/keep somewhere? One thing I've seen in other games that I appreciate is when they say "these seasonal items are now obsolete and will be deleted/can be auto-sold for trifling sums".
Alternatively, should I just treat this character as a walking treasure chest, park him, and try to shared-slot things of actual value to a new character? Part of me says to fire up a revenant-- I always mean to try it, but I suspect now I'll be disappointed after spending my holiday playing too much Code Vein, where it was the term for "formally speaking not vampires, but, yeah... vampires."
- FYI - Character slots discounted to 640 gems, but HoT/PoF deluxe upgrades are 600 and include a character slot each.
If you do not own the deluxe upgrades for HoT and/or PoF and were thinking about getting extra character slots anyway, you can get the slot plus other bonuses for 40 gems less than just the discounted character slot alone right now.
The PoF one also has a lounge pass (Lily of the Elon, near Amnoon), which is very nice if you don't already own one. They both have a few cosmetics.
It doesn't show a time in-game when the deal will end unfortunately (instead just shows the "1 available at this price" message) and I couldn't find that info elsewhere.

There have been several reports of 72h bans and I'll just link to a reddit modpost.
It's most likely just a false positive, yet it'd still be annoying to get banned for half a week over nothing.
